I noticed that for the 1/4mile times on this site the majority of the top cars are 1g. Is there a reason behind this?

halik008 said:what i meant it that you don't see nearly as many 2g's in junk yards or other that in good condtion other when busted engine/tranny/powertrain etc for little money. Most are either funcional with full price or totalled and useless.

Denji said:there is a very simple and logical answer to this question. You see quarter mile times are not actually based on the horsepower or weight of the car..but rather a system where the digits in the year the car was made determines the actual 1/4 time.. for instance...
91 talon tsi awd= 9+1=10 second quarter mile
now lets equate a 96
96 eclipse gsx= 9+6=15 second quarter mile
This is why first gens are faster.
I hope this explanation made things easier to understand for you guys!
