Do 1g's and 2g's use the same oil dipstick and the same tube?

Well, that all depends.
By saying 1G and 2G, you are actually covering four (4) different engine possibilites.
I'll break it down for you even though I hate typing this over and over.

1G cars have one of two (2) engines.

A) 1.8 liter SOHC. (non turbo) (4G37)
-or-
B) 2.0 liter DOHC. (turbo or non turbo) (4G63/4G63T)

2G cars have one of three (3) engines.

A) 2.0 liter DOHC. (non turbo) (420A)
-or-
B) 2.0 liter DOHC. (turbo) (4G63T)
-or-
C) 2.4 liter DOHC. (turbo or non turbo) (4G64) (found in the spyder)

Now to answer your question....
The dipstick from a 4g63 and a 4G64 will interchange. no mater weather it is 1G or 2G and no mater weather it is turbo or non turbo.
The dipstick from the 420A will only work in the 420A.
The dipstick from the 4G37 will only work in the 4G37.

Correct!
So long as you use the tube that the dipstick goes with.
I've seen some that are shorter than others, so the dipstick would have to be the right length for the tube. Or the reading would be off because the tip of it would set higher or lower in the pan.Ken
