why the valves are white?

I took off my exhaust manifold of my 2g and i looked into the block and i noticed my valves are white. Can someone tell me why the valves are white.

Running lean or if you have a turbo timer it is from idling your car since it idles lean as well.

If you are running race gas that could be it. Race gas makes anything in the combustion chamber or exhaust a white color.

Any running issues? If not, don't look in there. There's really no telling what modern "gas" is going to leave behind.
