A few days ago, while driving my car, I heard a rubbing noise an a few seconds later the sound of a belt breaking. The car lost power and costed to a stop. I immediately assumed it was the timing belt. However, I removed the top timing belt cover and found it to be intact. Had it flatbedded home for further examination. I discovered that the crankshaft pully had seperated and stuffed the A/C belt inside the lower timing belt cover. B-belt was also still intact. When I aligned the timing marks on the 2 camshaft sprockets, I discovered that the timing mark on the crankshaft sprocket was positioned 5 belt ribs counter clockwise form the timing index on the engine. What do you think? Did this bend my valves? What should I check next?
