I was reading another n00bs question on getting his new DSM from A to B without plates and was about to comment but for fear of thread-jacking decided to start a new thread...fore it minded me of my first meeting with my car.

I saw it on ebay, went from red with fabric interior to "scion silver" with black leather and already had some "work" done. The Owner said he had to drop everything and move to Washington state so I told him I have $2,500 to to give you to-morrow if you gimme the title. But he's in Boston and im in Upstate NY and the $2500 is about all I'm going to devote to procuring it.

Finally made it from Upstate NY...to NYC, then finally to Boston where my DSM was, on a greyhound...with a family members plates. Jerks at the station didnt tell me I had to go outta my way and change buses so after taking a cab over I ended up signing the title on the hood at 10pm in the middle of the projects with the owner's room mate and sister there ### he already skipped town. none of that sounds kosher.

Met them on the one lighted stoop in the place " Hey you zach?" "Yup." Got the cashiers check?" "Yup. Got the title?" "Yup."

initial impressions - these seats are comfy and this Momo wheel is mutha####in T'zite!

So with a warning of the dipstick popping out and bad valve cover gasket spewing oil on the manifold if I got on it I was on my way under the cloak of darkness. Still when I pushed the accelerator just enough while cruising id hit its boost profile and got that cool gentle shove in the seat. It had a short ram intake and a steel mesh filter so the only thing you could hear was the turbo spool. *sniff* yup, burning oil, dammit

I completely missed an exit and had to go through Syracuse like another hour for a total of six hours and did not mind at all.I mustave listened to this silly gwen stefani solo album I bought on the way like 8 times somehow I thought that was my best option to buy at a gas station on the way back.

I had to have a car for work/school but I do not suggest doing any of that ..especially the gwen stefani album whenever I think of that story that damn album pops in my head.:barf:

First off I never knew DSM's were turbo i just thougth they looked cool and since it wasnt a honda i was happy with them. Well heres my story,Dad was a mechanic started with cars when i was young like most of us on here and then when i was 13 my dad was on ebay and found my first car my 1992 Plymouth laser rs NT.
That had a bad motor and that car was my baby i loved it. But when i got my license my dad told me to sell it because it had no air bags, so after that i bought my 3000gt and have been dd it ever since. Once i bought a 90 Gsx but ended up fixing it and making a profit on it and so i got my money to save for a future DSM.
Now this passed august my friend was driving around and found it (my 93 Talon tsi awd) sitting at some guys house so he asked the guy if he would sell it and he said he would since it was his dd while his GSX was being built and so i went drove it and fell in love with it and bought it for 500 so i have it now in my garage saving my money to build and have it ready for spring.

I am thinking about going Evo 3 turbo setup.

Actually funny this should come up. I bought my very first DSM about 8 months ago off ebay. Got totally screwed but didnt know until I had it delivered here. Ohh well I fix it up. Only problem is that it is plagued by rust. I actually think I could get it running and going, but with everything bad and the rust taking over, I said screw it. Guess what, found a kick ass deal on here and going to pick it up Monday. Its about a 4 hour drive for me. Im a little worried about driving any 20 year old car that far, but I have no other way to get it home. SO I'll bring my other cars tag and drive up with a friend. Or should I just write on a card board "Tag Applied For"?

One of the guys that works for my dad had a champange 90 TSi AWD back in '97. He let me borrow it to pick up lunch for the whole shop and I was hooked. I bugged him for 6 years to let me buy it off him and he always denied my request. Finally, in '02 he called me up and asked me to come up with the down payment for his new car and I could have the 90 TSi. For $1,400 I had a untouched, dealer serviced, 68,000 mile, bone stock TSi. It has now become a part of my family and my kids love riding in it and helping me fix it, and heck my wife even knows how to check to make sure the timing is spot on and how to read the datalogger on DSMLink. :thumb:

you should apply for a temp tag at the court house.

I 've always been into v8s along with my dad, I saw a 90 gsx, dark blue on my dads friends car lot. I bugged dad to pick it up and us go over it because I liked the looks of it. I didn't know it was all wheel drive or turbo. I was gonna buy it for a commuter. LOL..This was in late 2000.

I got off work and my dad had the car waiting for me, I go in and he has a funny look on his face. I say whats up and He says I don't know what the hell kinda car that is, but its got something. He said it was as fast as his muscle cars. He couldn't believe it. I drove it and fell in love. I was going to buy it but I got laid off.

6 Months later, my dad gets rammed in the ass in my mitsu mighty max, my dads buddys car lot had just got in a 91 turbo talon and I bought it. I've had 3 turbo all wheel drive talons. 2 91's and 1 92, close to having a 90 gsx. thats my story.

Well when gran turismo 1 first came out i was in love with the NSX and the nissan skyline, But when GT3 came out i fell in love with the EVO. I always loved the eclipse especially the 2g body style, and when FnF came out i was more excited about the eclipse. Well i got my first car (2001 honda civic ex) and wrecked it on purpose due to i was fed up with it. So now i was stranded and my grandmother offered me 3gs for a new ride. So i searched around looking for a eclipse and went to a car dealer(in fayetteville nc) on bragg blvd. The sales associate said that they had a eclipse turbo coming in and he called me when it came. I left work early with the 3 grand and test drove it and lost my mind. I thought that car was the fastest thing out. He wanted 9gs for the car so 3 brought it down to 6gs. I had the car for a lil longer than 2 months. I really didnt know anything about cars except what GT has taught me. So riding with my friends going to wallmart at about 2am i decided to bounce of the rev limiter.:sneaky:..And guess what happened.Boom!!!<my actual face expression.

broke timing belt bent all valves. I gave the car back and after that ive owned 5 dsm's. I just cant let them thangs go!!!!!:hellyeah:

I like all the turbo guy's reference to "The movie" You guys do realize that car was a 420a, right? Don't believe me? Watch it and wait 'till they pop the hood.

Anyhoo, growing up, my sister had a 92 AWD Laser. That was the first car I ever drove. Then my cousin had a 97 AWD Talon. After that I fell in love. After searching and searching, I bought my GS for $450 and was at first miffed about it being NT, then I heard all of the banter back and forth....needless to say, I always root for the underdog. So, now I am on my quest to become king of the underdogs.

When i started looking for a car i really wanted a mustang gt but the insurance was crazy! Looked at 5.0s (i know its really a 4.9) but dead end. Than i started looking at imports, i knew i wanted to modify my car and i didn't want a front wheel drive car at all. Than searching and i found dsms, and when i found that some are all wheel drive, i knew that it was going to be my car. 2 years of searching and i found a silver gsx with a 104xxx miles and in good shape. he was asking for 7 and i gave him 5 and i was a proud owner of a 97 gsx
Working on getting rid of ALL of the rust but when they said that I'm driving a ricer, i race them heads up and they ate their words LOL

Funny part is these cars are more american than a lot of the domestic cars now days. :p

I was going to break down towards the end, a GT-4 Celica mint, or a black on black 2g GS-T eclipse.
Shawn

To be Honest, I would have bought the Alltrac Celica. XD But that's cause I'm a Celica Fan.

I was actually looking on craigslist when I found some one with 2 fieros. One with no engine, the other with no suspension. I figured I'd buy them both and put them together. I had started looking for shops that could do the swap, and I walked to a mechanic, and noticed the GSX badge sticking out. I thought, Hello... Since I had heard of GSXs before, I was a bit curious about it. ((A friend of mine online swore by them, saying the 2nd best handling car he had was a 90 talon))

I asked the mechanic and he said that the prior owner brought it in for a timing belt job, but never paid for it. He ended up getting the lien sale for work done. Some wagering here and there, and I bought the car for 1300+400 in fines in a mistake. Started to drive it home but had to buy tires that day cause the ones on there were falling apart.

I bonded with the car when I started driving her on the freeway and realized it was a Hell of a lot stouter than the Camaro I had, or the Celicas before. Even with the goofy knock sensor problems.

2 years, and about 2k later, and I'm still fixing things here and there and I still like it. Wife wasn't too pleased I bought another 92 car, but after getting her up to 5 lbs while driving, she understands my appreciation for the car. She wouldn't buy one, but she won't make me sell it either.

Just gotta get the last few repairs done before I start making upgrades. Well, aside from the Evo Enkies. . . and the 2g parts I'm stockpiling til I have everything I need. :thumb:
