How Accurate Is DSMLink AFR Estimate?

Some people say "don't trust it, use a wideband brah" while others have compared it to a wideband and say it's near dead on.

Your thoughts?

Afrest is only as accurate as the info you give it. Its assuming everything is working perfectly and flowing exactly X amount of air. Its accurate......after you get it lined up with an actual wideband. Adjusting mafcomps will get you there. I vote LC!(actually LC2 now) wideband. They play nicely with link.

+2 on LC-2. Nice unit.

The estimate is only as accurate as the VE table or maf comp.

The wideband tells you actual afr, the afrest tells you what your ecu thinks is the afr. You compare the two to calibrate your car. You definitely misinterpreted the people who say theirs is dead on. It is "dead on" because they tuned their car.

The AFREst shown in your logs is pulled directly from the RPM/load cell in the OLMaxOct table in direct access, at least when you're WOT and the ECU's in open loop. To say the least, it's the AFR that the ECU is trying to target when your WOT and it has nothing to do with what your actual AFR's.

Once you get a wideband installed and start tuning you'll use the AFREst and logged wideband AFR's to tune, so it's still a useful value but only when you've got a WB to tune against it.
