Home Made MBC [Merged 9-7] depot

The bleed hole goes on the port the ball doesn't seat against. It's to bleed off the trapped pressure that would otherwise hold the wastegate open after the ball reseals. If your MBC only allows you to hit 13 psi then maybe you need a stronger spring. Check it out of the car and see what pressure the ball seals to before opening. That will be the same pressure your turbo can build before the valve opens and actuates the wastegate.

Where do you find instructions on how to build your own MBC? I'm interested in trying it, so please let me know if you know of a good source

I agree with Steve. I don't have a bleed hole on mine but it holds about 20psi. I have it set at 16psi with no problem other than a small spike. Where did you get your spring from?

I bought one from a guy on E-bay 20 dollars shipped. It works great boosting about 15 to 16 on a stock gs-t.

OMGHAH.... I love this site...

I have been wondering why my rpms go way up with no power then kick back in... OMG I missed that part on how to build your mbc... no bleed hole = wastegate still open when MBC closes = equals boost fluctuation = ripping out hair and wondering where all the power went? Dammit if this works im buying you a beer!!

Ive heard about making homemae mbc's, I have a bleeder one, but a friend told me that making a ball-spring one ((I think thats what its called)) allows more accurate and specific control, as opposed to mines which is basicall two levels, open and closed boost. Is this true? What are the benefits? And last, is there any writeup, instructions, or just pictures on jhow to make one of these ball-spring ones, and how to install it correctluy? thanks!

iv got a 91 tsi awd, and am wondering if anyone could help me and tell me how i would go about making a home made boost controller because i saw on some people's profile that they have it, thanks for help and advice

yeah.. same with me.. I made on for both my DSMs, one for a boosted K20 honda, a few silvia's, a Mazdaspeed6... They work GREAT... I love them and I only spend about 20 bucks, just cause I like to get different springs with each application...
