Wow, heres a cracker, good job for you. Im not the smart ass here. This post where you preach me all this B.S. about your grand life on how youve prefabb'd all this for profit really doesnt impress me and I really dont care to see pics of your products comming from someone as inconciderate as yourself. Im not trying to make my own business making these, I did this as a favor and a good deed, not to originally make money (this whole thing costs about $20-$30 for materials). My whole point was that I have something to show for it, not much, BUT SOMETHING. I made a prototype, it worked, hey why not offer it to others so they can have a CHEAP ALTERNATIVE TO A MORE EXPENSIVE INTAKE Im not saying mine is the best quality, or its "BETTER", I dont get where the hell you guys saw that. Dejon makes great products, hell Id order one if I wanted to spend the extra money and if a few matters in their design was slightly different. This was more of an alternative temporary product more than anything. Hell I make these things for free for local guys as long as they go to Home Depot and pick the materials out for themselves. On top of that, I offer to direct people to the VFAQ in the first post on this thread, which results in no money to me, which is fine with me, Im satisfied knowing I could help So bottom line, your doing your business for profit. Me Im not trying to make a business out of this, I did this to help provide people with a CHEAP ALTERNATIVE I have over 60 happy people that have ordered from me so I must have been thinking and doing something right. Hopefully this resolves any misunderstandings.

Wow, you've made a whole $600!!! Don't get too rich. If it was a quality product, you would sell a lot more than that.
I guess I'm not innovative cause I only sold a few hundred grand of product in 2002 (fabbed up more customs than you'll ever be able to dream of too). FYI, I own a fab shop, paid for and built with money I made from fabbing parts in the course of two short years. Spent about $150,000 on tooling alone last year, all mine, no banks/loans. Know why?? Cause I make real parts, not Home Depot little kid hack bullsh*t. Sorry, but I hear you guys bash the poor vendors on here all day, and then praise POS hackjobs like this.
Someone teach me how to post pics and I'll be glad to post some pics of my intakes/tube work so you can see how un-innovative I am. And my exhaust work. And chassis. And turbo kits. And FWD to RWD conversions. The list goes on.
And since I am on the subject of my un-innovativeness, I am finally gonna make some DSM parts for those who want quality over hacks. First up is the sheet alum. intake manifold, should be done in about a week, I'll post pics (again if someone can show me how).

Honestly, I've never seen a successful shop/business owner bragging about his success.... on the internet.... to prove something to a person who doesn't force anything on you....

Either way, the funny thing is, if you were to fabricate an intake pipe and both were put to flow-test, do you really think that your pipe (which should be around $60/$80 judging by other vendors) flow twice as much as $30 pipe?. I bet there would be less then 5% difference if any at all...
At any case, it will def. not make up for such a huge price difference. After all said and done, who's smarter ?

My bet is on DieselBoy, who spent less then $30 to make something that will take you much more $ to achieve.

Hey i got a inatake from dieselboy, and it works awesome so lets all settle down, i was actually the one who asked dieselboy to make one and ship it to me, cause i am too dam lazy and i know i would just fu*k it up if i made it. he was glad to do it, and i was glad to recieve it. so if you dont like what he's doing then go pay the 100 and whatever dollars to go buy one.

Dieselboy-
I wish you the best, I'm sorry to be a dick. Good luck with everything you do, now and in the future!
Newlogics-
First off dumb a**, I'm not bragging. Ummm, I was proving something that was forced on me, moron. I was responding to HIS post about "innovations" and "when I make a part that makes money, then talk". Well, I DID, and you don't like it. Oh well.
Again, not bragging. I merely responded to the questions posed by his post. Go back and read it (the "suck my azz" post), then read my response, half-pint. And its all true, sorry if that pisses you off. You'd know it if I was bragging.
Again, read the post (I've said it multiple times because you obviously have a selective reading issue and I want to make sure you get it). Are you possibly a Clinton??
El Aguila-
No, I don't know how to post a pic. I'm not a personal computer expert, I didn't grow up in the internet/computer age. What are you some little 18yr old kid who cant take a relevant jab at me, so you come up with "pretty innovative, can't even post a picture". Idiot.
We were talking about "innovations" as it relates to auto parts, understand?? I spent my time fabbing parts, building cars, and getting laid. My lack of knowledge about "posting a pic" in an internet forum hardly makes my product "less innovative", or me "less innovative" for that matter. You star trek nerds that spend all day in front of the computer prolly won't understand that. I can't post a pic, but you sure as hell couldn't do what I do either (not in a million years). No offense star trek fans.
The only reason I am on here now is cause I have free time, which is a new thing for me and I hope to advance my computer skills LOL (and I like this dsmtuners site, pretty cool, way better than any of the other ones I've checked out:)
Flames accepted, and welcomed. I'm a pyro.

As much as I wouldn't want to resort to internet bickering, I have to say this:

First off, if you have noticed, nowhere I had to put you down you down to get my point across. The fact that you resort to that doesn't reflect well on you.
Secondly, apparently you had some major issues with your customers. I can't explain your hate towards home-made stuff any other way. I don't know how old you are, but if you're 15, that explains your attitude well. If you're an adult, then it is a serious problem that you have to address.

I guess your answer would be something like "It's the internet and I don't give a crap how *whatever* reflects on me", but if you're mature enough, then you'd just realize that it's not you that is being attacked. It is a simple argument of quality vs. value, and you should be more accepting of other peoples opinions instead of bashing opponent.

P.S. I'm not sure which part of your previous post was proof of your point. May be you can help me out. Speaking of points, can you clearly formulate yours ?
I'd appreciate if you send your responses to my PM instead of this thread, which has been hijacked enough already.

No prob, I just didnt want to be flamed by some azzhole who hijacks my thread by making rude gestures towards something that is simple and benificiary (which at one time, you were doing). But now that everything is understood, I appreciate your good wishes and I wish ya the same (must be nice to be retired at 30  ).

Umm...yea...you're not bragging

I can't post a pic, but you sure as hell couldn't do what I do either (not in a million years).

are you some little 18yr old kid who cant take a relevant jab at me

No, actually I'm 16...read my sig...you're very unobservant.

The only reason I am on here now is cause I have free time,

So you might as well spend your free time arguing about a simple homemade intake pipe? No one invited you into this thread.I personally could care less what you think of it. My whole idea is to go faster, for less money just like most DSMers. And if you take a look at my mods, I think Im doing pretty damn good for only being 16. Take notice how my car is completely stock looking...there's probably a reason for that.

Ok both of you stop.

The mod is cool. Whether a Little ghetto or not it's still a good alternative to spending over 100 bux.

No more flaming in this thread.

Dieselboy, got any pics of the intake? .. i made one about a year ago but its white and theres no return tube for the BOV

Pics of the old one are in my profile. The new one looks the same except the dump tube is positioned at the Fernco connector (about ½" from the end of the MAS).

So this is the NEW one:

Looks like its wrapped up with electrical tape? can you make one with black ABS piping? thanks

my cost was a little more, about 30 in metal tubing, and a 3" silicone coupler with clamps will be about 10. it will be jet hot coated too, so 12.5/ft also.

Hey, I dont know anything about DSM's yet (just got one) but where is the Air flow sensor in that pic? Do you have a Map sensor or something? I know cars, I built my last one myself..but just wondering.....

All I see is the pipe and filter

He's either running a VPC (vein pressure converter), running a MAF Translator in a blow through style (positioning the MAF on the UICP) or running a stand alone.

I now have a 3rd design out for my intake. This design is the best by far and doesn not require you to mount your dump tube (already comes with). You can also switch it from recirc'd to a vented (pure solid) intake. The intake also now has bends so fitment is much better. I will link this thread with the new thread I will make as soon as I get pics. Im going to take pics of all 3 of my designs, then post them together. New price is $50 shipped to your door (remember, your basically getting 2 intakes for 1).

$50 for intake alone (comes with recirc'd setup, and non recirc'd setup).

$100 for full intake setup and K&N filter

could you please post the instructions for the new and improved design for the intake ?!?!?

thanks

Nice work btw:D

Home Depot Intake ver. 3

Materials needed (again, all found at Home Depot)...

2 - 3" 45 degree bend ABS elbows (get 3 if youd like a recirc'd and vented setup).
1 - 3"-to-3" pipe coupler (this isnt the old 3" Fernco rubber connector, this one comes in aluminum. Has a rubber insert and 2 clamps built on)
1 - 3"-to-2" Fernco connector
1" section of 3/4" PVC pipe (white skinny pipe, this is your new dump tube)
1 - package of JB Quik, liquid nails, or some other type of strong sealant/glue

Tools needed

- A flathead screwdriver
- A drill and a 1" drill bit
- A hacksaw, sawzall, or something to cut neatly

Steps

1). Take your 2 elbows and attach them together. Make them so their pretty much in an "S" shape.

2). One side will be straight 3" pipe, the other will have a couple section on the end. You want to take your cutting tool and cut that couple section off so you have nothing but 3" pipe on both sides of the "S". You want to cut on the very start of the couple. Youd like to have as much coupling space on that area (that is where your Fernco connector to your turbo will be), so cut as little pipe off as necessary.

3). Put your 3"-to-2" Fernco connector on that area you just cut. Tighten the clamp. Then install the metal clamp on the MAS side.

4). Take your drill and 1" bit and drill a hole (if your like me, closest to the MAS coupler as possible). Drill the hole as neatly as possible (if you have roughness, file smooth. Make sure you drill on the top portion of the pipe. Take your 1" section of white PVC pipe and test the hole. The PVC should fit snug and perfect into the hole. Mix up your glue, line the hole, line the end of the pipe, insert the white pipe and let dry.

5). Install your intake. You will need to have your self tightening clamps for your dump tube, as the rubber dump tube will be a little loose around the PVC dump tube (tightens nicely with a clamp). You will also need to wrap the MAS in tape or something to get it to fit snug in the connector (as with the past intake models).

Now heres the cool part....

If you decided to buy 3 elbows to switch between a recirc'd/vented setup, let me explain how this works. As you can see, I gave no direction to cement the 2 elbows together. Since the intake does not utilize vacuum pressure, there is no need to have everything air tight, there just needs to be a solid enough tunnel to draw air efficiently through the MAS. While putting the 2 elbows together, you should tell that its together quite fine without cement and that very little if any air will be able to escape. So with this benifit, you can simply keep another elbow on hand and switch the upper elbow out. Bam, undrilled intake if you decide you wanna vent. It takes 5 minutes or less to switch the elbow, everything hooks up the same, everything fits the same, everything looks the same (besides a dump tube).

You can also adapt this intake to a MAF Translator draw through setup OR you can also make extentions using more elbows to create a cold air (which I plan to do after my FMIC install. Damn I rock!!! :thumb:

great thanks for the info...and you said there are any real clearance issues with this ???

you guys should be ashamed to put those boot leg ghetto intake abortions on your car.

my intake, warning no home depot parts below:rolleyes:

Jesus, seriously, how many times are we gonna go through this. 1 last time, this is an alternative product Meaning that you save money on something that does the same thing. Thats dandy JDMAWD, I actually plan on getting one of those intakes after my MAFT. But thats a point, not everyone on DSMTuners has a MAFT, VPC, or stand alone. Not everyone has the money. Alternative, alternative, alternative. Read the previous posts and youll see weve discussed this already. Im not attempting to out sell Injen or Dejon Tool or some ghey crap like that, this is simply an alternative (permanent or temporary). Please, if you dont have something helpful or positive to contribute, keep your comments to yourself...

None. Its a little tight to squeeze into a stock setup. I take my UICP apart at the stock BOV/hardpipe for more room to work. But after its bolted in, there are no clearance issues at all. It actually fits quite nicely. I will get pics here shortly.

i dont want to save money at the cost of my car looking ghetto (sorry bro)

In all actuality, it doesnt look bad. I will show you with pics. Choose one, pay and get results, or pay less and get the same results. As they always say, to each their own.
