It's made with: ***Just of the top of my head***
2 3" 45 drgee elbows
1 3" straight PCV pipe(can't remember how long)
1 3"-2" coupler reducer
1 3" coupler
1 1/4-1/4 ntp(i'll check the next items to make sure)
1 1/8-1/4 ntp
1 3/8-14 ntp
1 2" pipe ?(for the bov return hose)

In making the "home depot intake", I understand that there needs to be a hole in the PVC pipe for the BOV hose. BUT, what about the other two hoses that attach to the stock intake hose, besides the BOV-hose??? I believe its the breather hose and the Purge hose for the EVAP system. Could someone please clear this up for me.

Thanks,

EASE

First, you dont need that breather/oil recirc. tube what so ever. Its simply a waste to re-route oil into your intake track, so simply buy a breather filter or run the hose from the valvecover down to the ground.

As far as the other hose, my car came without it. A few friends of mine also are missing that hose which leads me to believe its something thats very simple to bypass, or isnt necassary at all. As I said, I dont have it, and Im running fine.

Pics comming soon (prolly this weekend), bare with me

Just cap that second nipple on the intake. Then follow the hose to the charcoal canister and pull it off and put another cap at the canister.
Mine has seem to run fun like that for quite some time now.

I made my homemade intake yesterday. Go to a local muffler shop and get a 3 inch peice of SS pipe about a foot long. Get a SLIGHT bend put in it about 4" from one end. For the BOV hose, you will need a small tube to weld on with a 1" diameter, and another one or two small peices of tube to weld on if you want to attach the other two small hoses (I used a plasma-cutter to cut the larger hole). You still need the rubber couplings from home depot, but the 3" SS pipe fits right into your air can nicely. All in all i spent:

5$ for the pipe
5-10$ for the couplings
The other stuff i had lying around

So for around 10 bucks you can make yourself a quality intake that looks bling bling (when painted).

I first made a PVC one and didnt like it. Cementing tubing onto it for all the hoses didnt seem/work out to be such a good idea, plus you got to worry about the heat factor. Like mentioned it is too ghetto. SS is the way to go.

I totally agree... There is just something about telling another car guy that you have an intake made from pvc pipe at home depot, or popping your hood and showing someone. Of course the look on a mechanics face would be priceless.

I made one of those gangsta home depot racing PVC plumbing pipe awhile back. PROS You can feel the difference right from acceleration. It sure does the job feeding the turbo with mass air up till redline w/o making the turbo thirsty. CONS the pipe is so big n fat that the WG actuator nipple rubs to the pipe and get blocked. So theres times that my boost would fly sky high. Second, the one i got is WHITE! and looks kinda ugly and more gangsta than BLACK PVC pipe.

where do you guys get those black PVC pipes? =)

Not mine but from another board. Wouldnt the LS1MAF mod do better with the stock rubber accordian than pvc and the stock MAS though?

Looks good. how is the filter attached to the MAS?

Funny you meantion. When I bought the car, for some reason, there were no clips on the MAS to hold the aircan on. I pondered to how the hell I was gonna hold a K&N on without em. I ended up picking up a roll of velcro from guess where.......Home Depot. I just cut 4 small strips and placed them on the end of the K&N and the MAS (theres adhiesive on the non-velco side). You cant even see the velcro at all and it holds on there nice n tight.

I dont mind if people think this is ghetto at all. It saved me over $80, it does the trick, and Im happy with the way it looks/works. Like stated before, if you have the extra money, then by all means, go for it. To each their own. Ill be happy with my home made intake :thumb:

How would we make one for the 2g. Our MAS Side would have to be oval

Heres a pic of Four G63 97GST's intake:

Looks like you could cut the end of your stock intake pipe (where it hooks to the MAS), use that to attatch to the MAS, then use the 3" ABS pipe for the rest of the intake.
