None. Its a little tight to squeeze into a stock setup. I take my UICP apart at the stock BOV/hardpipe for more room to work. But after its bolted in, there are no clearance issues at all. It actually fits quite nicely. I will get pics here shortly.

hey diesel.... I got all the parts you mentioned yesterday and put the all together, tried getting it into the car and it does fit...I didnt see the uicp thing b4 I left work yesterday so I will try that tonight but the shift linkage is in the way (2nd gear I think) Any suggestions ?? The 3" to 2" seems to have some issues fitting to the turbo as well ??? With the 2 45 degree bends, aluminum connector, and 3"-2" reducer it seems way to long ??? I have gotta be doing something wrong since you have sold so many and Im sure 1000s of people have had one of these at one point or another.....

Yeah, there have been no fitment issues. First make sure the elbows are connected together completely. It should fit perfect. Also make sure you cut the coupling collar off the one end (you want 3" pipe on both sides, no coupling collars). As for your shift linkage, I can only suggest you try angling the elbows a different way. The straight 3" intakes cleared the shift linkage fine and were more in the way than these. Make sure you place the 3"-to-2" Fernco coupler on the side you cut the coupling collar off of (because its shorter) and make sure you squeeze the Ferco on there as much as you can. All in all it should work. PM me if you run into more trouble.

couldnt we get an elbow and attach it to the left side of the mas, connect it to a long pipe that connects it to the filter which is where the stock intercooler is, and have cai? with aem bypass of course

Sure, as long as you have a FMIC

hey Dieselboy you feel like helpin a fellow seatown dsmer make that intake? I would do it myself but i have no tools over here, as I usually live on the east side of the mountains.

do you think you could make it work for a 2g?

TurBoGs-T and all 2nd gen guys.We don't have to cut the factory intake snorkel...If you look at my pics on page 3.The top coupler is 3"..You just have to heat it up alittle and it will fit around the mass air sensor......I'll try to take a pic of it off my car tonight.

I made a home-depot intake a long time ago. It is very similar to dieselboys 3rd version except I made it longer so it would sit the filter right over where the stock side mount was. I then bought some 4" ducting and set it up so it forces cool air up to the filter. Cruising on the highway in 80 degree weather my air temp was 84 degrees. With the stock setup it was 101 degrees. At the track my best time with the home depot mod was a 13.55 @ 103.2 mph, 1.77 60 foot time. Now the last time at the track my car was trapping at 105 so I put back on the stock intake. With no other changes I ran a 13.07 @106.13 mph, 1.78 60 foot. Now I don't know if my intake had a leak or something but it sure messed up something with my car. This was just an observation and I'm not trying to say the intake is trash, it just didn't work too well for my setup and I have hard numbers to back it up.

This was done in my 1991 Talon TSI AWD

Now that is badass!!! :thumb:

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, except I have the Dejon Tool Intake pipe... I wanted to add a pipe that goes from the stock location of the MAS down to the fender well and then attatch the filter onto that.

3" white PVC UIP, you might as well start making HDepot 3" downpipes and catback systems :thumb:

And BTW, my buddy Brian has done it. He recently installed a Starion FMIC and used ABS pipe for his UICP and LICP. Turned out very nice actually and said he hasnt had any problems...

so if I made the intake out of pvc is that bad ?? At first it did smell a little...is this normal ??? Also after installing it my intake, which is a hella tight fit, my wastegate isnt opening...I checked all the lines and all connected....BUT one that connects to the wastegate actuator seems to be a little pinched... the o2 doesnt even open any more ??? any ideas ??

ok..is the pvc gonna mess anything up??? I cant find ABS here. I used the fermco 3"-2" connector I dont know???? New at this ... I have tried to get ahold of my friends camera but without avail... I showed a mechanic friend and said that for the amount that the hose was pinched, it shouldnt affect it this much... ???? I honestly dont know...I have a friend who is great with these cars who I am gonna hav look at it. I figure if his car is into the low 11's then hes knows a bit. Thanks for all your help guys...

No. On the old setup, it would form at an upward angle because of the straight pipe I used. With this design, it stays in shape because of the better fit. And since your local, I can either:

1). Go with you to Home Depot, you buy the materials, then I can put the intake together for you and even install it of youd like to. OR...

2). I can pre make one for you, then we can meet local and transact. Since your local and theres no need to ship, the intake cost would have a drop in price. Let me know if your interested (Im in Tacoma)....
