Hmm, Replica Type S?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Ive been talking to them when they first started releasing videos and they offered me a discount if I posted review and a video, I got mine for 125 shipped :)

Also here are the pics they sent of the diaphragm comparisons, I guess boostedinsofla was right with his review. Ill post mine once I install it.

I'm sold.

Here is a pic of the one that I got in ebay around 4 months ago. That diagram is weird because mine is a Greddy Type-S and if you check in google you'll get this same one and it doesnt looks like the Greddy diagram you got in fact it looks more like an NGR, Is that diagram accurate

WOW looks really nice. I noticed in one of there vids it said when they first release it will be $99.99 plus shipping and I will probably get one as it seems to be really good :D

don't about this one, but my HKS knockoff ended up sucking. It started leaking, malfunctioning are part throttle. I am taking it apart this weekend and will post pics. I put a dodge garage modded 1g back on there for now and the car seems happy.

hey sorry I havnt updated guys, I got it and it sooooo damn nice, compared to my old greddy, this is fully polished and looks better built. Here are some pics I took:

Compared to my knockoffs Im trying to get rid of, its no comparison, this is definitly built better and this whistles incredibly recirculated :thumb:

I didnt take it apart because I dont want to mess anything up, I have one clip, it wasnt specifically showing off the BOV, just getting a clip of my muffler sound, but you can definitly hear the whistle:

As for what it came with, it came in a white plain box, instructions, and everything needed for install. I asked why they didnt have any logo or anything, but they said they were going to add their logo in the spot where greddy was, but it would cost more money and since economy is bad, they want to keep price low, so others can afford it, instead of overpricing like the main brands. Out of all the bovs I had (Greddy Type-S, RS, Knockoffs) This beats them all, for a cheap price. That is my review :)

The Economy is bad? LOL, they are willing to NOT put there logo on the unit because the economy is bad? That makes no sense.. if they want to IMPROVE the economy, they should do as much advertising as possible so people will see the company, and BUY THE PRODUCT!

Im sure SOME of you here have figured this out.. They simply buy a cheap ebay knock off, and replace the inside rubber diaphragm... who knows maybe they don't even do that?! Then they turn around, double the price, and sell! Pretty much like punishment racing is doing with the $60 T3 manifolds.. buy for 60, sell for 250 after slapping some steel stock on for support. Insta-profit.

In case some of you are a little iffy on my theory.. please examine, and compare the pictures above, to the pictures i JUST pulled off ebay. notice every detail is the same. :toobad: (please note, i blurred the company)

Your right in one part, that they should put logo, but if they were to put logo, that would mean prices go up...People wont buy products when prices are up the way things are now. I think that what they meant. *They didnt say economy is bad, I just assumed that LOL. I believe they are new as well and they atleast are advertising on youtube, well thats a start.

I also agree that Punishment is basically just buying cheap crap and reselling, I bought my IC pipes from ebay and they were identical to my friends Punishment ones, that is disappointing :notgood:

But anywho, I took apart the NGR Type-S and compared it with Greddy Type-S, and ebay knockoff and it is nothing like the ebay knockoff, first of all the exterior in the ebay knockoff is crap compared to both Greddy and NGR, the one you posted in your pic has been photoshopped, those are the same ones I have, It is real rough, as if it were real cheaply made and is not really polished. The Greddy is more smooth like the NGR, same material, called Cast Aluminum and NGR one is fully polished. Here is pick of the knockoff you posted, I just took a pic:

Now compare this knockoff vs the NGR I posted in my last post. Dont know if its possible to see in pic, but the knockoff is terrible quality compared to the NGR one.

Anyways for the inside, it is indeed an orange looking diaphragm, that looks like the Greddy, it is not like the ebay knockoff. Ebay knockoff is terrible inside, it doesnt compare to either NGR or the Greddy. NGR and knockoff have totally different internals. NGR is basically like the Greddy, except it looks nicer internally, I dont know what all the extra things in the NGR do, that are not in the Greddy, but it seems it is how the improved version works, as it does not leak and I have not had problems boosting at 15psi in my puny T25 hehe. The NGR Diaphragm is indeed stronger than the Greddy one, my greddy one is very thin, as if it wouldnt withstand boosts higher than 20psi, the NGR one looks as if its some very thick and strong material. Well I have no complaints, I love the whistle my NGR Type-S makes when recirculated. I dont know how it was possible to make the whistle as I tried doing so myself with the knockoffs.

I believe it was worth it, as that NGR company has great support and they answered all my questions fast, and they have 6 month warranty, and seem to know everything about it. From what I saw it is better quality than the Greddy, the knockoff doesnt even compare. And for the price it is about half off of the Greddy and is new, for me that is a :thumb: :dsm:

If you Look at both the Ebay knockoff you posted, and the NRG one.. You can clearly see the NRG is just polished.. Simple put, If you take the ebay knock off, the dull aluminum one in your picture.. And place it on a buffing wheel with some compound, even you can make it look mint. You can see by looking at how rounded the edges are.. Just had a good buff taken to it. There is no way 2 guys in college are building Blow off valves from scratch as it is a HUGEEE undertaking. R&D alone would cost into the tens of thousands...

They make work good, I'm not arguing that... its just once again Greddy, and other TRUE tuner companies are going under because of cheap knock off, and china made parts. Id rather support a company that has put the money and time into a good quality product.

college guys? To me, it doesnt look like the work of college guys, unless there real smart college guys ROFL I have all 3 BOVs in my hand and the ebay knockoff is made of CNC aluminum and the NGR and Greddy are made of Cast aluminum, atleast there using what Greddy used. Im just simply stating what I see in all 3 BOVs. I also dont call Greddy a real company, most people hate them.

Plus if you look at all 3 BOVs in a pic they are identical, so it would be hard to compare as there using the same concept. From what I seen, everything that NGR stated internally was correct. Doesnt leak like my Greddy and the internals look better quality than Greddy. I would compare Greddy and NGR, but not with ebay knockoff as ebay one looks junk compared to both Greddy and NGR one. My uncle who is mechanic, was impressed with it as well.

I do agree with real companies going down from cheap knockoff, which is bad. But atleast this one I tested isnt cheaply made. Simply just stating my review, it will be hard for a new company to make it when there competition is cheap knockoffs, but I do wish them luck as I'am satisfied. :)

I seriously don't think GReddy's in any danger of going under any time soon. If this thing's as good as jm1080 says it is I'm gonna try it out (I'll take his word for it, what's he gaining by lieing to us). I'd rather support my own wallet than support a huge company like GReddy. Don't get me wrong, I love GReddy, they make great products but Ihave a lot of bills and not a lot of extra cash so if I have the option of getting a replica that performs just as well as the original, I'm going for it. As for there being no way 2 college guys could do it, don't underestimate people. Check this out.
YouTube - Ferrari 312 PB replica scale model. Must Watch!!!
This guy made a completely functional scaled down Ferrari from scratch with almost no money. It took him 15 years but he did it and a blow off valve is no where near as complicated. I'm just waiting for them to start selling these BOVs.:rocks:

Thats what I mean, Ive had complaints with Greddy, and I bought that 80 dollar diaphragm and it ripped in less than 3 months....Useless overpriced crap they sell. I rather not spend much cash for something that is better than the original, which is a plus and hard to come by. Im not the only review either, boosted also posted his test as well.

Also Im not saying go buy it or nothing, I was skeptical at first, but I believe boostedinsofla as he has helped me in the past and he knows his stuff. I decided to be a test dummy and hope it worked better than my Greddy. Well that is why Im supporting them because it surpassed my expectations and there support was better than Greddy. Trying to get in touch with greddy was impossible... :toobad:

And that vid of ferrari, geez LOL, must have a lot of freetime over 12years to make??!! WTF Anything is possible.

Ill also try and post a vid tomorrow if I have time :)

Actually, GReddy (aka TRUST) is having plenty of financial issues. They declared bankruptcy just a little while ago. Japanese tuning firm Trust/Greddy declares bankruptcy - Autoblog

heh yea, I posted that same article on a local forum a few months ago. Although they filed for bankruptcy, they are still going to be making products. The same situation happened to Apexi last year as they also filed for bankruptcy. Its to bad that china can make all these crappy products for so cheap, and its even worse that many people slap them on there cars! Myself, I prefer to spend money once and get the right part. Slap JDM on anything and some kid will buy it

I want pictures of the internals side by side..

"Details about BOV: We were deciding about what color top to choose, we decided to keep the purple top with a fully polished bottom. We might add more colors such as Red and Blue depending on sales. It also comes with everything needed to install: High quality gasket (No cheap knockoff type that others sell), Long hose, bolts, washers, tee, and instructions on how to install."

Right off youtube ^ ^ I would think they would do there own colors instead of red, blue, and purple... but oh wait, THATS THE ONLY 3 COLORS ON EBAY!!!! LOL This is NOT a damn company!!!! Look at the companies selling profile on Ebay.. your telling me they can build a BOV but they need to buy a billet spark plug cover?! A simple Aluminum plate is to hard to make? but they can build a cast BOV!? These guys have quite the scam going on.. I just bought myself a buffer from Harbor Freight.. Im jumping on this band wagon ROFL

Dude, what is your beef? Did you not read my review on the first page? They are just starting out and so far I would say they're doing a good job. They have very good customer service and so far the product has been better than my last 2 authentic Greddy BOV's (Type S and RS). You can't find an authentic Greddy Type-S on Ebay for under $150 and guess what, they still leak. These dudes take their time and basically rebuild the internals with better quality parts. To each his own.

x2. I highly doubt that they make those bov in house. Most likely they get them cheap from China in bulk or where ever and replace the seals. And thats it...

Here is a link to fix your replica type-s using a bike tire.
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/288051-cheap-knock-off-type-s-rebuild.html

You can see how cheap quality those knockoffs are from that link.

Also to the other person saying that colors red blue and purple are like knockoffs, arent those the most common colors people get in their cars??? Except purple of course LOL.

Anyways dont be quick to judge just because of other ebay junk that is already a spread plague. Ive tried all BOVs including Greddy and this is the best quality in terms of internal and external. Me and my uncle have inspected them, he has been a mechanic for over 30years and he knows good work. Ive learned so much from him :D

Also here are some clips I just made today, it sounds way better than my authentic ever sounded and there are no leaks.

Has anybody ever noticed that most people who bad mouth knock off products even though they have been tried and test have very little posts. It makes you wonder whether they are there just waiting for a thread like this.

I like to give credit where credit is due. Companies who make knock products are thieves, really. Doesn't really matter if the product works or not. Buy from vendors that support the community... not ones looking to make a quick buck.
