HKS, real or not

Alright so I got this BOV off this guy and I wanted to know if it was a real HKS bov.

IT does not have the HKS written on the side, he said he polished it off. The middle section says Sequential Blow off Valve. Any other things that could hint to me wether it was real or not? MAybe a picture of the inside (bottom) of the bov?

Red= fake
Purple= real
All the ebay fakies have red on the inside and all the real ones seem to have purple on the inside, from what ive seen.

nvm...new posts came up while i was making mine ...how do you plan on finding out if its real? tell him you took it to an authorized hks dealer and they said it was fake... and i hope hes not on tuners because i just blew your cover! heheh

yeah, I have seen one of the fake ones before and it was purple. I have acctually never seen one with the red inserts.

Can you take the front rounded cover off? On my real HKS only 4 of them actually hold the shell to the body of it. The others are just there for looks.

I know mine's HKS because it came in a sealed HKS box from Buschur 5 years ago before these copies were out. Mine has the nut on the back, but newer ones don't.

^^^ Right, they should come sealed in a HKS box, as well as have HKS on the side of the BOV, do you have any pics of the actual one you have??

Actually I don't think mine ever actually said HKS, it came with a sticker you applied.

From what has been posted, it seems this guy pulled a fast one on you. Its disappointing to know that there are people out there who are trying to screw other DSM members (assuming he's from this site). If you had an authentic HKS BOV, why would you polish it off? I dont get it.
If you find out its fake, let us know how you got revenge on him!

Check if you have an adjustment spring at the back. The real hks ssqv bov does NOT have an adjustment spring. If it has one then it's fake. I do not know if there are any hks ssqv ripoffs that come without the adjustment spring, therefore I cannot tell you for sure if not having one proves that it is authentic. However, I would think so.

There is an adjustment bolt and nut but no screw...

ill look for the papers. idk if i still have them or not ill have to check around my room. but its real i was tryin to polish it and the symbol that read in yellow letters hks came off almost all they way so i just took some paint remover and removed the rest



He sounds like he wouldnt and apparently a few people know him, I just wanted to check. My friend picked it up for me as I was at the track. I am going to keep the name anonymous until I find out, I really dont want a good member's reputation destroyed when I have no idea.

According to my modified mag, the fake HKS bov has an adjustment on the back of the unit to adjust spring pressure and the real HKS doesn't. Also if you take it apart the real one has a black rubber diaphragm while the one in the fake unit is orange. The diaphragm on the HKS also stays attached to the body, while the fake one doesn't. If you could take some pics that would help for sure.

Real ones have the purple inside, and say super sequential, and have hks in gold on the top, fake ones just say "blow off valve" on the inside

The old hks bov's have the screw and bolt. They stop making them with the adjustment because it was pretty much pointless.

Exactly. My old HKS came has the nut and bolt on the back for adjusting it.

Just because someone paints or polishes their bov doesnt mean you got ripped off. jeez. I painted my ssqv primer gray and gloss black, so when I sell it to someone it doesnt mean its a fawkin rip off cause I painted it. stop being lazy and take pics for us to examine or just listen to what all have said. some have posted misinformation so I'll try to clear things up for you.

-inside theres black rubber that says super sequential
-inside cone is purple
-older ones have adjustement screw(although it didnt do anything[ quoted from hks technical rep]
-newer ones dont have screw
-only 4 screws holding the cover, the other 4 like whoever above said are for looks
So with all that being said look at it, determine weather its real, or post pictures so someone can help you out and tell you. other than that, quit talking this guy up who was nice enough to sell you an ssqv for $150. Me personally I hate the god damn thing. Partial throttle sucks and I wish I went with an 1g bov instead but I'm stuck with it and I wouldnt sell it for less than $200, even though I hate it.
