Help me build the best street motor I can

I would have stuck with an OEM 4g64 crank over an eagle.

Andrew...why is that? Isn't the forged Eagle crank supposed to be stronger? (and I think they are about the same price new... around $700)

I haven't bought the crank yet. I just have the pistons and rods on the way (on sale, so I went ahead and picked them up). I'm in no hurry on the crank, as the rest of the car build is still underway with quite a ways to go.

2.0L
9.0:1 Wiesco's
Eagle H-Beam rods
ACL Tri-metal race bearings
ARP head studs, mains, and rod bolts
Mitsu MLS HG
FP1/FP2 cams (or maybe changing out the FP1 for another FP2)
New valve seals and guides
BC stainless valves (standard size)
BC retainers and springs
Fidanza adjustable cam gears
Stock IM

Probably going to stick with my e16G for the time being, and then upgrade to a BWs256 or similar.

Any final thoughts? Sound like a good street combination? Is 9.0:1 too high or will I be good?

BTW - I'm documenting the entire project, including stripping and reconfiguring the firewall, etc. on my blog.

With the exception of the 16g ( i have a garrett) and the brand of cams (i have DKS 264/272 combo) this is the exact motor i will be putting in my car in just a few days. I'm starting on it already, taking it to be torn down tomorrow as the block comes from the machine shop on wednesday and i have to have it in and running by the weekend!

I"ll let ya know how the 9:1's are... This will be an E85 motor in the summer and run pump gas in the winter for easy starts ( it's been -6 to -21*F for the last week)

I can't wait for this to be done.. i did get a HUGE let down tonight though, whiule prepping the new/used JDM 1.6l head that came on a emergency motor i bought from an importer, i found that the intake cam hjournals were shot (gouged up) so there goes using what looks like one of the better port jobs i've seen on a DSM head in many years.. I will do everything i can to get this head back in working order as 'm determined to try this port job out!

Update...

Well I went with a 2.3l stroker; Wiseco 8.8:1's, Eagle rods, and a new Eagle forged crank when I can afford it :)

Appreciate all the input as always :thumb:
I think this will suffice your goals. Lower compression will simply tuning and allow more advance without heating on the cylinder temps. Jake Montgomery runs 8.5:1 and was running 9's on a 2.0L motor. I'm not sure if he still is...

Anyway, select a turbo to match your motor (or more specifically your head) and HP goals and you'd be set.
