My motor and tranny mounts have gone bad since i have way more power than stock. Whats a good web site or location close to north california for motor/ tranny mounts? anyone? :dsm:

I dunno- it depends on what you consider "best". I consider "best" new oem mounts.

Therefore my answer = satan.

god bless you! god loves you!

Check out Road Race Engineering. I got some of the prothane motor mount replacements and I dont have wheel hop anymore. But I did gain more vibration from the motor. They are best remedy for high HP FWD. And I think I'll never have to replace those ever again.
Super STIFF!!! Oh yeah.

Prothane & Energy Suspension make motor mounts. Energy suspension just makes the front & rear torgue mounts & Prothane makes all 4. They are both made from urthane but the prothanes are harder compared to E.S.

stock mounts + $5 cutting board = good mounts to me. cost effective and does the job.

I'm thinking I need new motor mounts as well...why would new motor mounts increase engine vibration???

The increased vibration is not due to the fact that they are new, it's because you are replacing soft rubber with stiff urethane. The rubber mounts absorb engine vibration, whereas the urethane transfers engine vibration.

With the urethane mounts being as cheap as they are, I think I'd spend the $50 before I did a rig job. There's really no reason to make a cheap mod cheaper. No offense though; I'm glad it worked well for you. :thumb:

what if I bought stock motor mounts would It increase vibration?
WTF No. You already have stock mounts now, so if you replace what you currently have with the same thing, you wont be increasing any vibration. You'd only be decreasing the amount of $ in your wallet. :p

Stock mounts dont make vibration, they surpress it. The stiff inserts transfer vibration. If you have regular, functioning stock motor mounts, you will not experience any abnormal engine vibration.

Hello, what i did on my car I had to replace all the motors mounts, and I purchased the motor mounts inserts, they work pretty good and they are cheap, like 20 on ebay, and car is working very nice, it does not have that much of vibration, if u put the original mounts u will have the same problem soon, hope it helps, www.slowboyracing.com

if i could get a set of full replacements i would. but you can only get 2 full replacements and 2 inserts so whats the diff between the cutting board and the inserts for 5 bucks for all 4. also they are stiffer then the inserts so they work better.

Hey that Windo-weld do-it-yourself mod, how good has that worked for you? I am @ 298whp and I don't want the stiffness of full out motor mounts. But if that is my only route then I'll do it. But I like the idea of the windo weld.

I got the ES front and rear inserts (the black ones with the washer type thingers for one) and have only put in the front one and ...as said before, this is one of the best mods for stopping wheel hop and just regular driving. It made my shifting smoother then adding shifter bushings at the shifter and under the hood did. I still haven't put the back ones in on the rear motor mount, but I'm very happy with it just with the fronts, so I will do it when I have the tranny out later. I have noticed no increased vibration at all.

It worked great. It was cheap as hell and made the engine rock solid. There is no more engine movement whatsoever and very little engine vibration. There is some though. The only thing tho is expect to be without your car for at least 2 days when you do this while the window weld dries. I put mine in a little too early and was scared shitless when I heard a loud pop whe shifting. Turns out the stuff didn't dry fully yet. Anyways, I highly recommend it. The prothane bushings are probably a little better, but you can't beat this mod for the cost.
