A quick question. The piston pin is suppose to enter the rod easily by hand right? The reason I ask is because is been awhile since I rebuild a 4g63 engine with eagle rods and now Im rebuilding one and the pin doesn't what to enter the rod by hand. And yes I have the correct part numbers for the 6 bolts rods and wiseco pistons. Thanks

The wrist pin is a floating pin, so yes it should should slide into the rod w/o too much force, especially when lubed. However, when assembling the pistons and rods, its normal to have to heat the piston to expand the aluminum to allow to pin to slide in easier.

It was known back in the day that the small end of the Eagle rods had to be honed out to accept the pin and give the right oil clearance. Maybe you should check the bore of the rod and diameter of the pin to see if thats the problem.

EDIT - I forgot to mention I have the same combo and had my machinist double check to make sure. He verified the pin had the right clearance.

The last Eagle/Wiseco combo I assembled slid right in with no problem at all when lubed. I would check your clearances...Al

What is the clearance spec for the floating pin to the small end of connecting rod? Im going to the machine shop tomorrow to get the rods honed. The pin slides easily in the pistons. Thanks for the help.

I'll have to see if I still have them,my machinist gave me a list of all the clearances that he used on the 6 bolt I built.Your machinist should know what they need to be.Just be sure he knows they are floating pins though...Al

Problem solved! Went to my machinist, he honed the small end of the rods. Took about 10 minutes to finish the job.

If you have the specs of the size of the bore on the small end youre using now and the size of your pin, Im sure some people in the future may be interested in the type of oil clearance youre running.
