How much power would a 7 bolt motor with 6bolt rods and a fresh rebuild n the motor hold? I found a deal on a 2g AWD that needs to be put together and I am trying to weigh out my options...

Well stock 7 bolts will hold 400 or so pretty reliably so id say 50 extra maby more. At that level though the reliability is based on tuning. You can blow a built engine at 250 with incorrect tuning. But after the machining you spend how much? Why not just go with aftermarket rods if your worried about it?

It would hold more than most need but thats not going to be your problem. Your problem lies on the size of the crank end of the rod. The 6bolt end is thinner and will not work on a 7bolt crank. Thats why they have different size bearings.

hey does anyone have any good write ups on the 2.4 bottom ends on the 2.0 turbo heads?

I ve been searching all day on this and I find many different answers...I am not sure what is quite involved in the 2.4 bottom ends

Actually the 6-bolt rods are way wider than the 7-bolt rods on the big end. By the time you machined the rods for 2g pistons, had them narrowed to fit the crank, then balanced everything, you would have spent more than buying aftermarket parts.

Not really its only like 100 for a machine shop the to machine the rods though...

People install 6 bolt engines in place of 7 bolt engines. The rods are not interchangeable.
