I'm starting a build this week and I need some clarification. Of all the searches I've done there are no definite responses to the difference between 1g 6-bolt and 7-bolt rods.

Can anyone provide some good references? What is the power handling and are there differences in ordering pistons?

I currently have a spare 1g 7-bolt crank (and block with a really big cradle) that I'm having bored to .020" over and trying to determine if I need better rods for the intended pistons and my 350-400 goals (maxing out an E3 16G and 950 FIC's).

And this goes the same for the 1g 7-bolt as well as the 2g? This is what I wanted to verify... So that even using a 1g-7 crank I could get more reliability from 1g-6 rods or stepping up to some other aftermarket. In considering the extra couple hundred for rods (in addition to the pistons), I just need to verify that I'm getting what I need and nothing more. Thanks!

I am pretty sure that the "Big Rods" are only in the 6-bolt motors

Yeah, the 1g 7-bolt does not have the 1g big-rods. There should ne plenty of informantion about the differences on here. I had a bottom-end that I was going to drop in with the big-rods, or the "1g/2g combo".
