Its a logger for cars of our obd system. Does this really work as a logger? Would rather not buy and find out it doesn't work.

you can buy the cable and cd from them, and then just source a good used [make sure it is compatible] pda from a garage sale or ebay for next to nothing.

$125 for that? Dude must be smoking something good.

Palm m100 with serial cable off ebay $10 shipped most the time. About $5 bucks worth of parts from radioshack and maybe 4-5' of spare wire and you can make your own cable super easy. Download mmcd, load it on the palm, hook everything up and your logging for around $20.
