so i live in pennsylvania perfect time for my heater to be messing up as we reach freezing temps my heater blower has been going on and off for a while by it self and now it wont come on at all here is the trouble shooting steps i have taken

    1. i pulled the heater blower motor and hooked it up to my battery and it powers on and works
    2. i checked with a volt meter and there is power going to the wire

as for now i had to pull a McGyver move and reroute the stereo power wire ran it into a switch and ran the power wires to the blower motor it self it works as an emergency purposes untill i figure out whats going on

my thought would be the issue is the blower motor resistor can anyone confirm this before i go ordering a new one?

If you hook everything back up normal, will your blower motor only work on full blast? Or can you remember before you McGyvered it?

Normally if it is the resistor pack, it won't work except on HIGH, which is why 1999 asked.
All fuses good, as it sounds like no power at all to the HVAC? The resistor pack runs all the speeds except HIGH.

I can get you a wiring diagram if you tell me auto or manual? If that would be helpful...

Could you maybe make a jumper wire and throw 12v on it from the back and see what happens? If you do, just touch it for a second, if there is a short somewhere back from that point the wire will get really hot, so its just a "test". If it seems like it will work, try the switch, but be careful.

Where are you seeing 4 volts? Like on which wire and how exactly are you testing it? Not saying you are wrong, just making sure we are on the same page.

4v on the blue wire at the motor? Based on that I would guess wiring/connection issues or bad contacts in the the relay. Try swapping the relay for a different one, and see if you still only have 4v there.

If you still have only 4v with the relay swapped than you need to trace the blue wire from the motor to the fuse box - which sounds like a nightmare.

Screenshot_20191203-172336_Chrome.jpg It looks like maybe you can borrow the defrost relay for this test but I am too lazy to check. Let me know what you find!

Also, on a side note, I have to disagree with Marty on this one. Using jumper wires is really risky if you dont understand what you are doing. Not to say that you dont, but I highly recommend you make sure of your intent before jumping wires. 99/100 everything is fine even if you do it totally wrong. The 1/100 is when you backfeed a circuit that fries all the insulation off the wires, kills a module, or literally start a fire. I dont think that is going to happen, but I have to caution you about going into it without careful consideration. Marty also cautioned you about the danger of doing this, but I wanted to stress the point a bit more.

That said, I do that sh** all the time, and I am an ex ASE certified tech. I got bit one time very hard, and lost face at a job I was leveraging for higher pay at the time. In full it cost me a lot of time and money.

I can help you pinpoint the problem safely if you bear with me. I just dont want you to create an even bigger issue that is even more difficult to solve.

No disrespect Marty! I am just trying to help.

Not a bit taken man, the better the knowledge the better the outcome! I very much trust your input out here on the forum so please continue as you always do! :thumb:
(But you understood what I was doin, it could lead to a very bad short circuit if not done correctly so thanks for taking the time to help out)
