okay so i just got the dsm about 4 days ago, it had no head unit in it so i went and got a cheap one til tax return time. i installed it, and the radio works perfect, but something went wrong during the install.

now all of the sudden my corner markers on my headlights wont come on, but the turn signals still work. my dash where the speedo etc gauges are wont light up, my knobs for heat etc dont light up, and my rear defrost doesnt work now.

i checked every fuse under the hood, and under the dash by the pedal assembly and one was bad and i changed it, but nothing works still. any ideas, could i have ####ed up something inside where the radio goes?

any input helps ### im a noob to dsm's and also to electrical.

the only wires that i connected that werent the same color was an orange one to a black one. they were the onlly 2 wires that didnt match anyone else.

correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the 1g dimmer use pwm (pulse width modulation) to control brightness? that may wreak havoc if that was hooked up to a head unit. it could have just blown the dimmer.

try a new dimmer and disconnect that orange and black. if the black is on the head unit side of the harness it just gets grounded to the car chassis ground. leave the orange disconnected.

search the12volt.com for the wiring colors before you go any further. the black wire in the new radio harness can just be screwed into a metal bracket under the dash somewhere. just be sure there is nothing behind where you are going to screw that could get damaged... i.e. ecu, other harnesses, etc. the dimmer may work when you just tape off that orange wire, but the dimmer may need to be replaced. you showed the dimmer wire a constant ground when you hooked it to the black wire of the radio because it probably grounded out through the case of the radio. good luck:thumb:

thanks a lot guys, very helpful, you think thats what also caused the corner lights and rear defrost to go out?

Usally when someone cuts the wires they pop the fuses so be sure to check them

and this is for a 1g eclipse only.

Might help:hellyeah:

yeah i had a wire crossed, i popped a fuse, changed it, and it instantly popped again, i didnt realize that, so i figured it wasnt the fuse
