Post #9 and #16 were the only useful posts on this page so far. And guess what? Those were mine. I showed him dyno proven gains and linked him to a members mod list similar to his goals. Isnt that beginner advice to advise someone to look through other members mod lists that have goals similar to yours?

Its all personal preference man, we could also say by the time you get the money invested in your dsm to make it a 9 second car you could have a 8 second supra, it goes on and on man. Like I stated all personal preference. As it CLEARLY states in the rules you are not answer a technical question by sell it and buy a turbo. So please, if your not going to follow the rules just don't post in the 420a section. 99 percent of the 420a guys don't go into your threads posting irrelevant post.

I never said sell it and buy a turbo. I never have in any 420a thread. At very least keep it for a dd. I wouldnt mind having a 2g n/t for a slick looking dd.

Anyway this is getting pretty far off topic. If the op insists on modifying his n/t, id say skip the head and cams and go for boost. 7-8psi on a small turbo and simple set up would dominate anything you could do n/a.
 
Look at this guys mod list. Pretty extensive, and he makes 140whp.

OP The nice thing about building NA is you get a very reliable car, and the more efficient of an NA car it is, the more power it will make when boosted.

As the mike rulla said, cams are great, but you wont get much out of them to you find a way around our ECU's pulling timing above 4k rpm.

Sorry didnt mean any disrespect with that comment. It just seemed like your mod list would help him with mods he needs to make. Just an attempt to show him whats works and what it takes to make n/a power.
 
No complaint here, but you know with how difficult it can be i need my 8 hp =P. I love my NA, and love my project, but there is no denying that especially on stock compression an NA build is rough to get numbers. I personally enjoy the challenge, as do others, but it diffidently is not for everyone.

I said I planned on being close to if not over 200hp this year, but that is building high comp and stroking, so as I said, not the easiest task.
 
Unless you yourselves are delusional and need an ego check. Do this, take your car to the track, run 17's in your full bolt on n/t, then report back.
Why would I need to do this? I never said said I was going to run anything special at the track nor do I care to do so, so I think your the one that needs an ego check. You keep pointing out the obvious, we all know n/t takes alot of money with slim gains.

:nono: You did no such thing, you only linked him to a dyno regarding intake, header, exhaust. Nothing relating to CAMS WHICH PROVIDE BEST PERFORMANCE FOR N/A which is the original question. Nothing else!



What do you honestly think your neon is worth? Maybe 1k-2500 tops for one with low miles and perfect condition.

You want to support your n/t community, then be honest with them. Tell them the truth and what to expect. Such as 115whp with bolt ons and 16 sec 1/4 miles. And that the n/a record is 220whp with a full out engine build and custom itb's.

Then once they have the truth and still decide to continue on, then good for them.

Once again that wasnt his question. His question related to nothing about being the fastest car ever or how to run 8's-10's or anything of that nature. Pure and simple his question was about which Cams give best performance n/a nothing about YOUR PERSONAL THOUGHTS REGARDING N/A.
 
Agreed, can we just get this thread locked, there are numerous other threads about cams for the 420a, or at the very least can a mod go through a remove all the bull shit thats cluttered it up?

I already reported it a few hours ago and asked for a clean up at the least. Hopefully a mod sees it and comes around.
 
Well I just sold my 90 gsx. Clean car inside and out but not worth my time and gas money. I'm a college student with a part time minimum wage job. No can do 4g63 ### they aren't reliable. My 420a has never taken a dump on me and is much more fuel efficient. Whatever my choice of car. But to the info I was able to read, seems like megasquirt and cams together would bring a decent amount of power, correct? ### I kinda like the sound if that. If my ecu really takes slot of power away, getting megasquirt sounds like I would need that first then cams.
