I'm getting a pretty nice 1991 Plymouth Laser for free from a friend of the family. It's an automatic with the 4g63 engine. The catch is that one of the cam's are broken.

Right now I have a 94 Laser and I beat the snot out of it pretty much everyday. So I'm gonna keep my 94 Laser and beat on that when I'm bored.

The point of this thread is to ask you all what kind of head work should I look at to get done to my 91 head. I was thinking 5 way valve job and the normal stuff. Some nice performance cam's would be nice and all.

If anyone know's where I can get cam's for it that would be great and if anyone thinks of anything else I can do to the head/throttle body/ect tell me

yea go ahead and do some nasty head work :cool: but find this out (as i dont have a non-turbo 4g63 rather the 420a) but i beleive you can use turbo cams on your car and it will give you a nice little ummphhhh! LOL

As for head work, umm does complete race port sound good? :D
 
Yeah, I was planning on getting turbo cams, but if there are some nicer cams out there than I want those. If anybody has some experiance with the HKS Brand or and other brand of cam's your information would be appriciated

So complete race port and polish? Good to know, what else is there to get port and polished? Can you do your throttle body?

Your profile has nothing in it so I will believe you have no mods to your car. I will tell that getting all this fancy work done to your car will not give you much performance. Why you ask? Because you are stock. You arent producing the air flow required to utilize the work being done. If your car is modded then its a whole different ball game.

My advice to you would be get the intake ports gasket matched to your intake manifold, and get your exhaust ports matched to a 2G or Evo manifold if you have one. I was told a while back that any thing more than a 3 angle valve job becomes obsolete the more miles you put on the head because of carbon build up.
 
Please expand on the valve job as i am getting a 5 angle valve job so i am interested....please discuss
 
I have a Stock 1994 Plymouth Laser. No free mods or anything. Stock execpt that my exaust feel off rigth after the cat. (Sounds Bad)

So i need to do what exaclty to get my head work to do something.

They don't make intakes for the 1g 4g63 so i'm stuck there

What do you mean they don't make intakes for the 4g63 n/a? Injen makes a nice one. They sell them on www.prostreetonline.com. As for the turbo cams, you only need the intake cam. The exhaust cams are the same. If you have the money, I'd throw a 264 HKS intake cam in there. I know the turbo guys run that, and it doesn't mess their idle up at all. Since you need an exhaust, you might want to get a high flow cat from Buschur and get the local muffler shop to make you a custom exhaust with 2 1/2 inch piping all the way back.
 
you sure???? I could have sworn to see someone (i beleive it was Mike1992 to have made a custom intake (he had alot of pics too) Search! LOL
 
I guess its not hard to custom make yourself a custom 1g intake. I don't know much about 1g NA performance, but I've made custom intakes for Grand Ams. I used PVC Piping and heat wraped it. Just make sure if you use PVC you keep it away from heat. It melts easily
 
I know that nobody makes a cold air intake for a 4g63, but if you use something like an injen and remove the cannister under the snorkel, then you're getting mostly cold air into the engine anyway.
