I am rebuilting my 6 bolt n/a and was wanting a few susgestions.. Fist let me say that this car is all stock and will be ran on a 5/8 mile asphalt track and is always reving from 5000-7500.I have the head off cause I bent a few valves (timing Belt Broke) and don't know if I should go with all stock or is there something out there that will handle the abuse..What Cam would create the most power for my setup ??
Also Anything special I should do to the bottom end ???Where can I get a rebuild kit besides E-bay Thanks,

i would get it p&p run some 1mm over sized stainless steal valves with coated springs and titanium retainers alos get an angled valve job
all that will really help
the stainless valves with the springs and retainers will withstand higher then stock rpms

some ajustable cam grears
run some crane 16 cams

p&p you intake manni
or get an aftermarket one
but ide just p&p the stock one
cost u about 100 bucks and will work really well

once you get all that done upgrade you computer that way you can run higher rpm's so that youc an take advantage of all that head work
with all that you should be able to shift at like 8 or 9 grand :p

thats what im doing anyway :thumb: if the huricaines ever stop hittin fl.

first of all dont hate me because u live in fl and you guys cant seem to stop getting huricanes mike

second it depends on what year car he has i dont go though the time consuming troubles to check everyones profiles out
if he has a 97 or above mabe a 96 he can use an afx
if he has a first gen, from what i understnad they have upgrarades for them as well..

im not here to give all the answers... im not a mod. all i can do is point people in the right direction and hope to keep learning as i go :thumb:

number one its a 6-bolt. therefore 1g

number 2 his head work shoudl include every thing aliczander says but he shoudl only run a stage 1 port job on the head just to make everythign smooth. dual springs,ti retainers, and new seals and all shoudl be done as well. 1mm valves will help a lot and a 3 angle or a 5 angle valve job. this will help tremendous amounts.

the reason for the stage one port is we are not pushing air in our motors like the turbo guys we have to suck it in. the smaller or closer to stock you run the more port velocity you will have. liek blowing through a straw vs blowing through a peice of 4 inch pvc. the straw has what seems to be better flow, it has more pressure inside and puches as much as it can. the pvc is just air gently going through it and doesnt carry any flow characteristic in the long run. the smaller straw will have more air reach the head or target of its flow dirrectly by the end of its path then the 4 in pvc will.

if you have a 1g just run a safc, maf translator and if you think you need it you can always run a aem ems. they can be made to fit the 1g n/a cars.

youll have full tuning of everything and a sdm box also would be nice. look int o this thread and itll help you a lot more with a n/a build up.

everything these guys are saying sounds really good...the only thing i would recommend is porting not polishing the intake manifold..ive had both ported and port/polished manifolds on my all motor car and the one that wasnt polished actually had better power earlier in the powerband...this is because smooth air doesnt atomize fuel as good as tubulent air...this does mean leave valleys in the manifold....i just wouldnt with anything finer than a 80 grit on the intake side...now the exhaust side should be polished to a mirror like finish....try it out...it'll feel great
