GSX or GST

I have been lookin for a GSX forever and day. I think i found one at a dealership. I don't trust dealerships that much, i know the car is Turbo, The dealer didn't sound to quite sure weather it was a GSX or a GST.... Is there a way to tell the difference between a GSX and a GST 2 gen by looking at the Engine...... the body is slightly modded....

Look under it, if it has a rear driveshaft its a GSX, if the only thing going to the rear is the exhaust then its a GST.

Get the VIN number and look up the vin on CarFax. It will give you basic info for free that will tell you what kind of car it is.

It might be possible that the dealership guy doesn't know the difference between GST and GSX. Ask them if it is FWD or AWD.

EDIT: Dee that would make sence I still would just go look under it, if they couldn't tell you if it was a GST or GSX I doubt they know too much about DSMs. Go look and be sure for your self as to what it is.

They are worth the wait. Check out the classifieds too, I see lots a good deals in there for properly modded GSXs, GSTs, or stock ones too.

Took me a year to find me an AWD with low miles, but I found it in town.

Test drive it and try to burn out that will let you know. If it launches hard its AWD if it wheel hops its FWD.

Why do that when all you have to do is look under it. last I checked dealership's don't look to highly upon burning out, or launching with there cars. Yes I know some people that do some crazy stuff to cars that they tesr drive at dealerships, like sitting infront of the dealership, and smoking the tires off, and burning out, then say that they don't like the color, and that the tires don't seem to be wearing properly, then walk out. The people there didn't like that but it was funny.

Hahah I saw a clip like that! it was a black Mustang Cobra! HAHA, happened back in the town I grew up! The guy even told the dealer he didn't have his license or anything on him, he really took that dealer's generosity, ignorance & stupidty for granted.

Back on topic, yeah I agree you shouldn't launch it either, just sneak a peak underneath. Man, GSX's are rare finds; cleans GSX's that is. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes!

Yeah thats what we got the idea from to do it
And me and my dad went to a subie dealership to test a new WRX, we said it would be for me, so they let me take it out, and I took it 115 over railroad tracks that wasn't smooth to the ground, haha, guess it was kind of how ralley guys feel.

I was just playing around and didn't mean for anyone to take me serious.

But now on a serious note go out there and beat it to hell if it breaks then yep its a dsm that hasn't been taken care of.

Check out the VIN. If the 5th digit is "L", then it's a an AWD. If it's a "K", then it a GST.
Or simply bend over a notice if a drivershaft and rear diff is present or not....


This is hardly rocket science....... We need a forum for pre-newbie questions.....
