I am looking into purchasing a 99' GS-T or GSX. Now questions, i assume that AWD will help with 0-60 times, but if i cannot find a GSX how easy would it be to convert a GS-T to AWD?

It would take a lot of money and time. You would be better off getting a GSX now. Its not that difficult to find a 99 GSX.

you could probably buy a new evo for what it would cost. don't bother, it is no where near worth it. Find you a used 1g, i would even go ahead and find a awd with a bad motor, that way you can get it dirt cheap, then do a motor swap on it. At least then, you will know what you have in your engine bay instead of a motor in a car that you paid like 3k for and then it blows a hg or worse in about a month.

Not easy. I wouldn't consider it if I were you.

There have been very few FWD to AWD conversions with these cars - it's very difficult and expensive. I've heard the cost is about $5000 or so, unless of course you do it yourself, which is not really recommended.

It can be done for about $1,500 (not parts, just labor).

The hard part is finding the parts.

Transmission is the first step and with the addition of a transfercase, probly the most $$ for an item you would spend. (Used...about $500 for both)

You could probly get the whole conversion done for around $2,500-$3,500. It is all depending on a bunch of different variables. Think of how much you have to spend on a gsx and if you can find a better conditioned GS-T (lower miles, color, bidy condition) buy it and at that moment start buying the parts needed for the conversion.


I wanted a GSX but found a mint unmolested GS-T with 35k on an original engine and could not pass it up. Most of the AWD dsm's I have looked at (personal experience) were abused beyond my wanting to purchase it.
