grinding noise???????

hey guys i was driving my vr4 yesterday and acclerated hard in first gear and heard a loud pop. the car then just revved like clutch was slipping in 2nd gear so i let out of it and brought the rpms back down and shifted to 3rd and car drove ok but everytime i start off from a dead stop the car makes a grinding noise while im letting clutch out to get goin and then it stops grinding and slips again in first and second under any kind of load but if i do give it any kind of load u can hear the grinding noise again and clutch slips again could this just be a bad clutch or could it possibly be something else car still shifts fine and goes into gear like normal thanks for the help.

I am willing to bet your clutch disc broke....what kind of clutch and how many miles on it?

its just a stock clutch with about 200k on it.

Yea i am sure the clutch disc is on its last leg. The clutch material is probably almost all gone and the metal center is riding against the pressure plate and flywheel, making the grinding noise.

ok thanks alot ill be getting a act 2600 clutch kit then.
