Eclipse/Talon 95-99 GRED 12030000 18R (Rspec)

Eclipse/Talon 95-99 GRED 12030001 280x600x76mm (24 Rspec )

What is the difference between the 18R and the 24R?

One is $815 and the other is $900.

man i keep getting these tips after the fact and it sucks. just got back from the hobby shop (a public garage on military bases) and trimmed the bumper piece enough to fit. it was the hard ass plastic piece and i figured thatd be the end of it. nope like you guys said now i have to trim the actual bumper. it doesnt seem too bad. thanks for the help at least tomorrow i wont go in blind. as far as the instructions, well theyre better used as toilet paper than directions so you didnt miss out on too much. the bracket could cause a problem. all right thanks for all the help guys ill try and drop an update on how all this goes

A few small questions for anyone with this kit or helpful information accordingly....Since quite a few people run this kit, and other kits require similar complications, I figure these questions will be anwsered rather easily. One, did any of you put this shroud thing back in when you mounted up your core? Pic below

Also, how many of you either severely hacked front bumper support? or just plain left it out? Some say the bumper hangs fine w/out it, some say it doesnt... tell me what you guys did and what you think... Pic of support below incase you dont understand what I mean..Thanks for your time..

i lost the support and hacked in a little on the opening of the dam in the left hand corner on a 97gsx so if that helps there you go

I had to hack alot of the inner bumper for it to be able to fit back on correctly, and I eventually decided to just do without. I also had to hack alot of the air dam for everything to line up right. It seems everyone has a different situation.

I figured the bumer support wouldnt be a big deal..But I was wondering if there were any ill effects of not putting that air dam back in front of the radiator. Thanks for the info soo far guys and keep it comming.

thanks anyway, I ended up selling it, it was turning into a big PITA, ended up going with the SBR FMIC w/ short route piping:D

is the 'lag' on the 24r really that bad? i mean im just using my car as a daily driver so i dont see how i could go wrong getting this intercooler. I can see if im taking it to the track and that 'lag' is costing me precious seconds? i dont know too much just starting out myself and i figured the 24r would be a nice upgrade from the stock unit?

Hey does anyone have the Greddy 2g frontmount intercooler? I am wondering because im have been thinking about buying one. Does it fit good? how much cutting does it require to make it fit? what kind of boost can it hold? if any first hand users know please share your information
thanks,

I had it but switched to a Dejon kit, the Greddy kit really isnt worth all the money they cost IMO. There are better kits out there. Do a search on the Ebay/SS Autochrome FMIC kit and im sure you will like what you read, whole kit for something a little under $300 i beleive.

Like many others, I too had the Greddy fmic. I had the big 24r version. You can keep the foglights, and there is minimal trimming of the front bumper. I have used it with a big16g, and my now PTE 50 trim. Both up to 24-25lbs. It does the job, but heat soaks after several runs. I now have the SS autochrome fmic kit, and it has performed much better, I believe I have not got it to a point where it heatsoaked and gave me knock compared to the Greddy, at least from what DSMLink tells me.

so going with the autochrome is a better way to go than the Greddy unit? why is it that the Greddy unit heatsoaks so fast? i know with the greddy you can use the stock intercooler route. what is the autochrome like?

Is there any trimming involved in installing the 24V with an aftermarket bumper like the blitz front bumper?
