got my new car!!! on ebay! [Merged 6-7]

I sell cars on ebay all the time. Like stated above just put in that you can end the auction early for any reason. Also put your phone number on the listing. If its a car with alot of interest your phone will ring off the hook. I live in Mississippi and I sell cars to California ALL the time. People are willing to pay good money for the cars and the $1200 for shipping on top of it as long as you have good pics and good feedback.

I sold my 95 Talon ESI on there

It was totalled, and the frame was bent and i got $1700 Cash for it.

I live in uppermichigan, the guy came form pennsylvania with a dolly and hauled it away.

It was a great selling experience.

I just sold my 91 talon tsi awd on ebay. I got $1,900 for it with a blown head gasket and piston rings. The deal went very smooth.

Ebay has their fees on the webpage. Just go to their page, Help sectin and look for a section about fees. If your car lists at 99 cents and sells for lets say $6000, it'll cost you a LOT less than if you started the car at like $3000 with a reserve at $6000, then it sold for $7500 or something...it's very pricey.

I tried selling on EBay on my car only got up to about $7000, and it is worth a heck of a lot more than that, so I was upset but I was only out the $50 listing fee. I did sell a buddy's 86 Olds on there and it went real smooth, and he got what he was asking. Scammers were all over me though, but they're usually easy to pick out.

Wow this sounds like a heckload of problems and headaches...If i did sell my car on ebay it would have to be with someone who knows and has done it...He/she would have to hold my hand all the way through sadly to say LOL...But thanks for the great replies...they were all very ehlpful in making my decision:thumb:

Its alot less trouble than alot of people are making it out to be. A basic ad would be $40, then another $40 if it sells. Other than that you have fees for if you want supersized pictures, featured listing, reserve, longer ad duration, etc. It tells you what the fee will be before you agree to the ad. It also does not matter what the car sells for, there is going to be a $40 ad, it does not go by percentage. It also does not matter what price you start the bid at. Start it at 50 grand or a penny, its still the same price.

Yeah, I think it is ridiculous how people want to sell a car for way more than its actually worth, and theres people out there with wallets bigger than their brains to buy them. Whats even worse is half the time they take car home, only to find millions of problems with it that werent mentioned or taken into consideration for the asking price. Greed is a dangerous thing. Lets all just jump into conformity and try to make as much money as we possibly can, stepping on whoever we half to while we still have breath in our lungs. Because we all know that money is the most important thing.

I strongly disagree. Alot of the transactions on ebay are dealers selling cars and they sell them on ebay instead of taking them to the auction, saving the public money. Alot of times you can get great deals like this. If you are smart about who you buy from, and make careful purchases, there wont be a million problems. It's all in how smart you are about your purchase.

Now that i think about my Grandpa sold his 67 Mustang on Ebay last summer and got 25,000 for from a lady who lives in California. Let me remind you that my Grandpa lives in Michigan. He was trying to sell it locally for 16,000 but it didnt work out. So it wasnt a bad deal.:)

Hey guys! I've been poking around and looking at different cars for a daily driver (a fun daily driver that is ;)) and someone told me I should look into buying an already made DSM car. I've been looking around locally and haven't found any that look like they've been done correctly...

...so I'm wondering: how sketchy is it to buy an already made DSM eclipse off of eBay that is not local (assuming i have a car inspector check it out first)?

What are the chances that I'm going to get totally ripped off and be left with a car that will have been totally whaled on and will constantly break and cost me a bunch of $$$?

Also, in your guys' opinions, how reliable will a DSM car be compared to a normal unmodded car, and will it have a lot more maintenance?

Thanks!

Ya, I'm mechanically inclined, but I don't have much experience at all with newer cars except for oil changes; most of my experience is with older muscle cars, but I don't have that much experience with those either.

There not as bad as made out to bein the abouve post. With proper maintance they are fairlt reliable. I have no problems out of my 2g. But I keep it well maintained. They have there little quirks though, but the fun outweighs that. Once bitten by the DSM bug you wont want to go back to anything else. Just my .02

Beat it, with our oil covered bloody fists....

Seriously, The normal stuff, plus some trouble spots. Vfaq is a really good spot. If you just browse you can see a lot of what goes on.

Clutches burn up like crazy (probably our fault), but really, it's about tuning. I'm finding you need to understand these cars more then another car. You have to know about the little things, and keep on all of it, or you have problems later.

personally, i would not suggest buying a dsm off ebay unless you have someone knowledgeable about dsms go check it out for you. a car inspector may feel that the car is fine, but he doesn't know the ins and outs of these cars, the little problems that will hurt you in the long run.

the chances that the car will be a pain to maintain and cost a lot of $$ if the original owner did not take good care of it...HIGH.

but like someone said above, if you take the time to do all the maintenance, it is about as reliable as anything else. just keep in mind you will have a tendency to want to beat on the car more, and being a turbo car, there are more factors than say, a honda.

If you dont know much about these cars its best to have someone you know or a shop around you that knows them pretty well. Just like any car it can get frustrating trying to figure out a problem if you dont even know where to start.

With all of that said as long as you feel comfortable buying the car off of Ebay and are willing to deal with any problems that the car might have than go for it.

Just a suggestion but this site has a cars for sale section and you can actually look at the owners rep and see about them.

Ya, don't think 109 octane is obtainable at a pump.......but i could be wrong....

So it would actually be bad to run Plus fuel through the engine?

Oh ya, this is another stupid question, but when it come to maintenance for these cars, what do you have to do.....someone said "normal stuff...," what is the "normals stuff?"

No matter what you get you will be under that hood. I'm as newbie as they come and i didnt really appreciate what i was getting into. From wheel bearings to me having my motor out of my car now, but you have to start somewhere. But oh man when you got the DSM fever, WOW. They are just amazing.
