I found a 1990 Eagle Talon with 159880 miles on it with a blown turbo (car will still drive) and it needs injectors. Other than that the car looks pretty clean, interior looks great from the pictures, the engine looks fine, paint doesn't look bad. I have complete access to a shop to do all the work myself so labor is not needed in evaluating price and I can even get parts for shop prices. Anyways I would like to know your opinions on if the car is worth it. The guy wants $1500 for it I am going to see if I can get him a little lower since it does need a little bit of work, but I really don't know much about these cars. All I know really is what I have been seeing online such as the belts, and a few people saying they should do oil changes at 2k miles. Help?[DOUBLEPOST=1412308888][/DOUBLEPOST]Has a salvage title

what do you expect to do with it if it has a salvage title? track only or what? I mean ive bought dsm's in similar shape for 1000-1500 but it depends on shell condition mostly. For a salvage title you should get him down to 800 easy the motor and trans is basically what youre paying for that thats got a lot of miles. Also, why does it need injectors did he tax them or what? not a typical issue on these cars.

Turns out it doesn't ACTUALLY have a salvage title he just put that since it has a blown turbo. He didn't say why it needs injectors it was on the page. Says the car runs just the turbo is blowing smoke.

Should really post some pictures, the price seems alright but if he's asking 1500 that means he will take 1000-1200 cash, maybe even less depending on how long he has been trying to sell it. These cars are fairly easy to get the hang of and turbos are cheap as well as injectors.

I would be curious why he put salvage title in the ad if he was just talking about the car having a bad turbo. Those 2 things have nothing to do with each other. I would assume that it is going to need quite a bit more than a turbo, don't be surprised if the engine needs to be rebuilt. If it does have a clean title, i would probably offer 600-800 if the body has no rust or major body damage. If it does have a salvage title, personally i wouldn't pay anything for it other than a few hundred maybe and then part it out.

I would be weary of the smoking, not necessarily the turbo unless its confirmed. It could be rings. Other then that its clean but not for $1500 imho maybe $800. If you did a compression test and that came out good then that would be worth more money. But the risk of rebuild is pretty big and I would not chance it without the compression test.

looks good only thing is blowing smoke turbo might not be blowed might be a bad ring and oil getting through your intercooler and blowing smoke like that i know mine was done that way when i tore the motor down other than that it looks good i would offer 100 at most just cause of smoke issue wouldnt be able to exactly tell until u broke it down but 6 bolt block and tranny is worth 900 bu itsself
