Ok so everyone hates how their stick shift can rolls back on hills right??? NOT TO MENTION when your first learning to drive stick and theres cars right on your ass and you almost piss yourself when the car rolls back when you take your foot off the brake... LOL

So ive been thinking, and i thought that a good invention would be if some company created something that was like a weight or sensor that could tell when the car was at an angle it would apply a small amount of pressure to the brakes until the clutch was released in first gear to stop the car from rolling backwards on a hill.. What do you guys think about that idea? i mean it wouldnt be a game changing thing, but would make driving a stick shift less scary and more enjoyable to some people

Maybe people just need a driver mod.
If your foot work is not quick enough to release the brakes, blip the throttle and slip the clutch then just drive an auto.

Or put the parking brake to use. Or install a staging brake.

You should just get an auto then..:D;)

I like the idea though. I have personally failed on many "slight" inclines..:(

Ya they have that already, it IS a great idea! You press a button I believe and the brakes lock

On big trucks I was taught to let out the clutch until truck creeps forward and then take foot off the brake. But on my car my RPM's drop so it doesn't work so well :(

Just gotta be quick! :)

I'll try to find it, I think it's Toyota

Its funny that a horse and carrige has implyed this. Good info as I have not seen before. Ahhh things I learn at 3am...

Just learn how to use you foot on the brake and gas at the same time and you will never have a problem on a hill.

OMG, Is this the grandma driving thread??? Just learn to drive and it's easy as hell to not go backward in a slope.

Haha this isnt for me!! im actually really good at driving stick i ran a 14.4 in a stock gst and thats like 18th place on dsmtuners for the t25 LOL i was just up late last night thinkin about it and it came to me haha i like gettting stopped on hills with people around me i think its a good challenge

I remember being nervous about this as a teenager (especially when we were smoking pot after school just driving arouind - think the pot made us really nervous LOL )

Anyway, over the years you get to where you really don't think about it and you just start holding the car up with some clutch drag when you know the light is about to change, or just keep rolling forward and back a few feet and most times people will not pull up as close toyou :D

IF i have a situation where i am worried about it for some reason (car not running right off idle or whatever) i'll just hand-hold the e-brake until i get the clutch/gas combo pulling the car and let off the brake just like staging brake but fr daily use LOL (everything came from some where)

What's funny is i hadn't known this idea was actually implemented on cars but on my older subaru i use to show people hopw it would hold like that not knowing there really was an ECU at work doing something about it

I do it every time i drive a car with a manual transmission. Use your heel for the brake and your toe for the gas, and your left foot for the clutch.

Some people with size 13 shoes dont have enough footroom to finangle putting your foot in that sort of position, as EVERYONE is saying.... Thats really what the Ebrake is for, its the same concept as launching, except on a hill... and not launching if you get my drift.:thumb: ( i figure there was enough explaining already done on how to do this) haha

I was gonna say something about autos having that sort of hill holder in place already but someone got there before me!

I have had many of times where i thought of a good invention only to find it plastered across my google searches :notgood:
