Getting myself a helmet for XMAS. What do you think about this one?

My seats are set a tad lower than stock, I have the full sunroof removed, I am about 5'10" as well and I have about an inch clearance from my helmet to the roof. I sit straight upright when in "race mode."

These cars suck for head room! Taking out the sunroof gives an extra inch or two.

I've been looking into the sunroof "plugs" for lack of a better term. They are flat peices cut to go right in to take the sunroof out and make it a closed in roof. Have not had much luck with finding one though. Have you seen these before Andy?

6'3, i drive in an auto-x with my head tilted sideways :)

:D Must make for interesting driving from time to time eh?

Yeah, I'm just at 6' tall and my car has a sunroof, stock seats, and full interior. I've been looking into getting a racing seat the sits lower and can also accommodate my 38" waist.

For now I just deal with my helmet hitting the roof and my bare head hitting when I drive over train tracks on the street.

Well I finally got my helmet. Actually i got it Christmas day but was unsure of the fit. I ordered a large. So today the UPS guy dropped off the new medium one and it fits perfect... well sorta. It fits my head but not the car. I'll guess I'll be pulling out the headliner or splurge for a seat now. Anyways, here are a couple quick pics.

HJC has been making motorcycle helmets for long, long time.. they make some of the best around. They only recently started making automotive helmets though. Never had one personally, but I'd love to get my hand on one of these...

HJC HX10 - automotive carbon fiber racing helmet

At around $900 retail, I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon.

House, let us know how that HJC helmet works out for you. At $300, it sounds more in my price range and would be a good upgrade from my open face G-Force GF750 helmet.

I looked for them a while ago. All I was able to turn up were ones for Honda Preludes. I couldn't find anything for a DSM. Someone should make a nice CF one.

Mine is just made up with some plexi-glass and some plastic trim. I acctually need to do something about it as it keeps cracking. I would be all for a "real plug" to fil the sunroof. I am ready to get some sheet metal and rivit it on.

I've added my reply. Here's to hoping our big heads will fit in our cars once again.

Yeah, I have seen the one for the Prelude first hand, that is what got me interested in looking for one. Theirs fit in the there perfectly and looked really nice as well. Not Carbon Fiber, but it still got the job done.

Its better than riveting a piece of aluminum to the top of your car as I see some people doing.
