Getting Ready for the 2006 Race Season...................

Here's my last entry on this thread for 2006. The 3rd and final motor (Mitch has made some death threats at this point) is in. John Shepherd's (now a new sponsor on the car) tranny is in place, with RRE's X-clutch and ACT soild hub puck disc. The car runs like a frigging wildcat, with no leaks, first time out of the shoot. I'm preparing this week for next weekend (our season race finale at Buttonwillow) and all systems are good. We have a whole plethora of changes for the car next season... so stay tuned at you local monitor!

Your words mean a lot to me. There have been many times that I’ve wanted to throw in the towel of frustration, and then come on this site and get filled with your guys support to persevere to the next race. To see all the people joining the ranks of auto-x, rally, and road racing gives me an extra boost to want to push even harder…

For what it's worth, I probably wouldn't be competing in NASA if it wasn't for you. We went through as much aggravation as you did (not quite as expensive, though). You pressed on in spite of everything, so we did, too.

I gotta admit: I, too, thought about chucking the whole thing a time or two. It took me all season of Collier-like breakages, but we perservered to a class win at the very last race.

If I was all alone out there, the only DSM trying to get my stuff together, I dunno what might have happened. It was you and this entire forum of fellow racers that provided the knowledge and perspective to see it through. Thanks for your inspiration and leadership, and thanks to the fount of knowledge and support that flows out of this forum.

You should take great pride in being the spiritual leader of this band of brothers.

Let's hope that we see a sea of DSMs out there next year, competing for class wins in everything from TTD to TTU and the race classes. Our little cars are dang competitive in all those classes, and the racers know that they will get all the support, knowledge and encouragement they need right here.

I don't know if this is allowed, but I figured this would be a good way to get in touch with a lot of people at one time. I just posted a bunch (well maybe not a bunch) of race rims with tires for sale in the wheels section of the classified. I figured since it's the beginning of the race session people might be looking for rims/tires. I figure I'm selling them pretty cheap but if anyone thinks I'm wrong don't hesitate in letting me know. I wanted to put them here before I start some E-Bay auctions...

What makes me sad, is trying to break into the race scean and make a name for youself is so hard if you dont have the funding like some of the Major Corportaions do. Greg I hate to see you leave the world of racing. And I would love to buy your car. But right now I just bought a 379K house and I just dont have the funding. My daughter comes first in this world and I needed a stable home for her. As her mom is leaving for Iraq in March and I will be having custody of my daughter. I hope who ever buys your car takes good care of it and lives up to the DSM Idels. Thank you for contributing so much to racing and the dsm world I loved your write ups and race stories.
