Went to Road America this weekend for my final event. Running RA is like travelling to Mecca, visiting Valhalla, or getting a visitation with the Pope for racers, because it is our shrine. A fine place to end my final season.
The Eclipse spit and sputtered on Saturday until we figured out that the tune had gotten corrupted somehow, so Mike the Mechanic reloaded it from the laptop and everythng smoothed out. The Eclipse then screamed down the straights, pulling like a frieght train. I was running in the "A" group (for "Agressive") and, although some of the big bad cars could catch me in the twisty bits, there were not many who could pull me on the straights.
I was the only 4-cylinder car in the A Group. Mostly there were nasty ol' V8s, including Z06Vettes, Mallet Vettes, Cobra Rs, plus a bunch of out and out race cars--probably the fastest bunch of cars in the Midwest. I was way out of my class running with these Big Boys, but the Eclipse did me proud. On Sunday, with the tune running fine, I started running some of the Bad Boys down, knocking off lesser M3s, Z06es, 911s, Cobra Rs, Subaru GSXs, and getting passed less and less.
Alas, the rain came Sunday, so all the A cars got off the track, and never came back. In the last session in the rain, there were only three of us still out--me on slicks, a silver Corvette. and a Subaru WRX, both of which I was running down.
The Archer Brothers Talon was there, screaming around in the B group. It's a FWD car that weighs about 2,000 lb soaking wet, so it really hauls. BlackCar was there, too. I'm sure Jim wil have his own report to submit, so I'll let him tell his tale.
Last event is over, so the Eclips is officialy for sale. $10,000 OBO
OR
$5,000 for the complete AMS stroker motor (includes long block, turbo, intercooler, piping, etc).
If I sell the motor first, I'll part the car out. Therer's about $20K worth of parts on it, so I can part it out for more than $10,000.
I just updated the car's profile, so click on the Car link to the left to see the mods.
If anyone is interested, in the whole car or just the motor, PM me.
