Quick question I think I now the answer just double checking. Now when I shift my car sometimes when i go from second to third I won't go in I go to play with it but the bushings look shot. The ones under the shift look like they push out when I move the shifter and the ones under the hood don't look much better. I'm just tryin to see if I'm right or wrong.

I'm having a similar problem. Any info? I just bought new shifter bushings I'm gonna see if that helps when it stops raining here. I know mine are shot.

Sound like 3rd gear syncs are starting to go i had this same problem with my 91 tsi i had ..I changed bushing , cables , peddle assembly , clutch , fork , pivot ball ...The works and it ended up being the syncs

Well I hope its not LOL I just had the top end rebuilt. if I have to so a tranny ill be pretty mad but my friends syncros are messed up and his will pop its self out of gear when you hit the gas in that gear

Which is what would happen if your syncs were going bad o.o

I had a bearing go up inside my tranny once, that caused it to start refusing to go into gear, and then kick out (only 3rd and 5th, but mostly 3rd). So there is more than one thing that it could be. i'd say replace the bushings and hope for the best.

ya its most likely to be the bushing or cables if its not going in to gear all the way i just had a similar problem with a 90 celica gt turned out to be a stretched cable. i would start with the bushing cause there defiantly the cheapest good luck
