gauge issues

Ok I'm having a problem with my gauges I'm not sure if its the gauge cluster itself as i bought the car as a roller

anyway the speedometer works the tach doesn't work but i know thats because i have a 90 and a 91 ecu. Now the problem is that the fuel oil and water don't work, sometimes the fuel gauge will move around some and then just drop and the temp gauge will randomly go all the way up then zero out again and act crazy.

does this sound like its just a problem with the gauge cluster in itself or like if there is further problems i need to look into. The float in the gas tank isn't stuck I have checked that already.

it sounds like the connection in the cluster must be bad. you might have to take it out and check all the wiring to see if it all works.

I would check a common ground to all the gauges. since they all are having issues i would look for anything that ties them together. The speedo is the only mechanical gauge in the cluster so it makes sense that it still works. Do the lights behind them work? turn indicators?

lights work; well some of them do and signals work as they should.

well ill let you all know because iugrad92 is sending me a 91 gauge cluster tonight or tomorrow!
