I've been getting higher temps when sitting in traffic on a really hot day with a/c on, it goes up to 212f or sometimes when sitting for too long even goes up to 230f. Without a/c my temps are good. I'm using a cheap aluminum radiator and I noticed that there's a huge gap in between the a/c fan and the radiator so I was wondering if this might be causing it? Is this gap normal or the same in the stock radiator (I dont have my old radiator anymore so I couldn't check). Previously the fan motor was starting to fail on the a/c fan and we just newly replaced it, works fine until I get stuck in traffic where the temp goes higher and I have to turn off a/c just to lower it down. I'm also thinking of replacing both fans but my radiator fan works well, I've been stuck in traffic before on a really hot day when my a/c was broken and it never went past 194f. If not this, what else can I check?

Also don't mind the wires, I'm still sorting it out 😅
Thanks!

It doesn't look plugged in. When you turn the A/C on do both fans kick on?

There's another problem if it's overheating that badly with both fans running, AND on a thicker aluminum radiator too.

FWIW the gap is normal and occurs on an oem plastic radiator too. What I did on mine though, was cut those standoffs down. I have the same radiator in my 1G as you do, and I cut the standoffs down for the a/c fan so it sits flush with the radiator. If I kick both fans on my water temp gauge will immediately and rapidly drop like 10-15+ degrees with both fans running. Might have another problem.

It's plugged in and all is working correctly, fan turns on when a/c is on, my wiring is just a big mess LOL. The only condition the temps get that high is when sitting in traffic on a hot day, but the temps go down once I get moving. I've sat in traffic for hours before on a cold rainy night and my temps didn't go that high. I'll try what you did and shave the standoffs so the fan assembly sits flush and see if it helps.
