Well I have a 1999 FWD GST and here soon I'm thinking about investing some MORE $ into it.

My modifications in my profile are updated although not completely installed. :shhh:

I'm considering a few things like a Magnus intake, Fp exhaust mani, Punishment FMIC, and possibly a turbo upgrade, but my main concern is my lack of tracktion with the Hp I will be putting down.

I've found a Quaife for sale locally and I'm consdering purchasing it (As well as some slicks) but I'm debating if it is worth it. I'm afraid I might be getting out of the range of Hp to even mess with FWD. (Have no clue where I'm at just looking at DYNO Challange) Would it be cheaper in the long run to go with a AWD swap.

I'm not the best on projects. (Been changing a timing belt for months now, due to the lack of knowledge and time, LOL.

Also if it isn't against the rules can someone tell me where Im ranging in Hp because I wont be making it to a dyno in the next year I'm sure.

Thanks!

Edit: Forgot this is a DD / Occasional Strip

For straight dyno the stock diff is fine. If you try to put the power to the ground in the lower gears with the stock diff it will fail at the first onset of wheel hop. 92 up use the "big axle" fwd diff. 90-91 use the "small axle" fwd diff. The difference being the portion of the axle that snaps into the diff itself. Neither is weaker or stronger as it is the bar or hub portion that fails.

Check out this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drag-strip/196598-where-fwds-29.html there are a lot of fast (low 11's) FWD DSMers that post on there (like Danl ^ who posted above me, 11.5 FWD).

Plus don't forget Kiggly. He has the fastest FWD DSM and runs low 8's. Of course his car is full race but the point is that it is one of the fastest DSMs period and it's FWD. His best so far is 8.358 at 164.90mph with a 1.294 60'

You aren't getting out of the FWD hp range, you just have to be willing to embrace the challenge.

Hope this helps!
