Hey, I Was Just Trying To Figure Some Power Numbers Out For My Upgrade Path Because Im About To Drop A Turbo And Basically, I Was Just Wondering How Much Hp You Need On A Gst To Be Able To Cruse At 45/55, Drop To second/third And Actually Get The Wheels Spinning, Just Post Any Hp Numbers And With What Authority You Break Them Loose, I Know This Is An Odd Post, But I Couldnt What Im Looking For Anywhere Else, Thanks For The Replys Ahead Of Time

ALSO LIST IF YOU HAVE AN LSD THROWN IN/ANY TRACTION MODS

(ps: Dont Give Me Turbo Advice, This Is Strickly Hp/authority Forum, No Bashing, Thx!)

Why do you type like this? Try keeping your finger off the shift key once in a while. Just so you know ahead of time, threads have been locked before because of people typing the way you have done here.

My old 92gst with 20g and supporting mods, I could drive in third gear and slam the gas pedal down and once in awhile break the tires lose. Of course I then ended up buying an awd because the gst was nearly impossible to pull out in first gear with, and would usually spin through the first part of 2nd. Stupid fwds :toobad:

wow, i have no clue what happened, you can look at all my posts, i never use caps unless i caps an entire word or sentance, im lazy, must have been some text thing on these forums, caus i dont type like that

A guy I know with a 3000gt vr4 can break all 4 loose on the highway :)

But for a fwd gst or gs with a turbo you have 2 options. 1 make the car light as hell and go mild with mods or keep stock weight and just get a 20g or bigger turbo and ull light those tires up.

Thats what I think will be a big problem with my buddies car I know its going to be over 500fwhp all the time so the tires will spin all the time LOL

im sure the extra 700 lbs helps him loose traction on the highway...and do you know if he has MR gearing (mitsubishi 3000gt s from japan had completely different gear ratios that we like to call MR gearing...)

Just buy some shitty ass tires. I could break my tires loose at highway speed in my Laser when it was stock because the tires sucked balls.

You can break em loose at 45 (2nd gear) and spin hard with only a 16g. Traction mods for my car are quaife lsd, tein coilovers, and 225 series tires. Of course cams help you spin much harder. To spin 3rd and at a higher speed you probabaly need a 50trim or 20g.

No he doesn't have the MR gearing. But he's making 790awhp so I think that's whats helping him break them loose at 100mph+

And for any none believers go to www.pampenamotorsports.com or even better come to www.3si.org and ask around about Ray Pampena. He's compariable to shep but for 3000gt's.

my car was practically stock aside from the small 16g at 14psi and i could burn em at 45-50 in second... but id rather not burn em, traction is everything...

yadda yadda yadda everything everyone else said....

I have a Quaife and Goodyear Eagle F1s.... on really nice road when they are warm they stick in 2nd... but they really don't make much noise when they peel and that can happen in second with almost any adverse conditions. I have a flatline 320hp from 4500RPM on.

We'll see how this all goes on the 13th when I get my GT35R :D :D :D

Now this may seem a little ludicrous, but since you and Ray hang out, why didn't you just ask him how much horsepower you need to burn rubber. I mean, obviously he knows.
Ok why in the world would someone just tune to burnout on the highway? I did mention he has 790awhp but thats in a 3000gt its not like I can answer that for a dsm being they aint no where near the same car. And also I've only met ray a few times being im from PA hes in NY. Only time I went there was for a dyno run with some buds and came home. But if he were to just tune for burning out on the highway it would be 600awhp I bet only cause other guys like matt monnet do that but while in second gear on MR gearing so thats like 60 mph (estimated) so give or take.

But ok back on topic. If you want to be burning out on the highway, WHY? If you can do it on the highway at w/e mph then you obvisily will be spinning around town alot

From my personal experiance with 225 street tires, quaife lsd, and a decent suspension set up anything over 400 to the wheels on a stock weight gs-t will light them up at 80. 45 mph is fairly easy I have yet to dyno my car but we are predicting 400-450hp on pump gas, but right now at even half throttle I spin 1st,2nd, and if Im really goosing it through those gears Ill get a good spin/chirp out of third.

Im bascially stock, when I punch my GST from a roll in 1st gear I get tire spin.

Just get a shitty bald tire, and let them break loose, the whole idea on a FWD is trying to get traction, not losing it.

Why exactly do you want to do this again?

Anyways... When I had my previous tsi fwd with a t04b and all the supporting mods, The tires would break loose when i hit full boost in 3rd gear, 4th gear you can get a bark when you shifted. It's not really safe...

to all asking why I'm asking, I'm a college kid who doesn't have a ton of money to throw down but want to get the most for what I'm getting, and I'm trying to find out about how much hp i want to have....another words, since i have a gst, and don't want to put money into suspension, LSD mainly, and any other mods, I'm trying to find the ideal turbo for the hp levels I'm wanting, thats all, and i know traction is everything and i DON'T want to spin them through 2nd and 3rd, I'm just trying to find that equilibrium. thanks for all the replys

Just to save you some $$$... Remove the windshield washer sprayers from your hood. Reposition them to point at your front tires (by mounting them in a stategic location that your friends and/or girlfriend will not notice). Empty the washer fluid and replace with bleach. When you get ready to impress your friend, Just hit the button to 'wash your windshield' and 'pop the clutch'... With the money that you save not having to buy 'real' engine upgrades and such you can probably afford to get him/her some BEER and you may just get some of.......... :sneaky: :sneaky: :sneaky:

Just trying to help... :dsm:

OK now this makes more sense. The gs-t is pretty powerfull fwd car from the factory. After a few mods on stock tires you'll be spinning alot if you don't know how to launch.IMHO the 16g is the best street turbo money can buy,and with this little snail and supporting mods, you'll be loosing traction all day if your not carefull. If you DON'T want to break traction your biggest help will be gettin some good tires at least 225 wide.
