FWD ECU in AWD 1g

My friend has a 1g awd, he wants to know if you could run the FWD ECU in his car, He swapped an automatic for a 5spd and now he needs an ECU and someone will give him one cheap but is FWD.

Depends on which FWD ECU it is. A MD166260 or MD193297 would work fine in MT cars.

Depending on the specifics the answer is yes.
Since his car was an auto that means it was 91-94. As long as it a Federal turbo FWD ECU from 91-93 it will swap regardless. Other swaps are possible depending or the ECU and car.

I believe that the ECU you have would be a '90 FWD ECU. Pins 6 and 14 need to be swapped for it to work in your '91+ car. I had to do the same thing for My auto as it has the 450 injectors and the case had 91+ written on it, but the actual number was the same as your ECU if I remember correctly. If not, steve will let you know for sure.

Thanks Bro for the clarification. We will be swapping ours back to a '91+ when we can as the one I bought is not what I was looking for. And I noticed the same thing with the same question twice.

If you don't swap the pins the car will run like crap, if you do it will run like a '90 does.
