2G Fuel pump removal?

Hey guys, I'm looking to swap out my 450 walbro with another unit. I initially had a shop do it 3 years ago, but it seems to have hit the fan. Either way, I was curious, if it's possible to remove replace the fuel pump, without disconnecting the line from underneath the car? I'm okay with opening the rear seat floor a bit if that is necessary. Thanks alot.

Personally, I don't like to hack up my car in anyway, so my answer to you on personal preference would be no. But, technically, yes judging from this post.

For me the vice grip doesn't even work and I haven't been able to pop that line loose since I've owned my 2g. I just snipped the rear seat floor way more than you're supposed to and I pull the whole assembly up and out of the tank and change the fuel pump while the assembly is still attached to the fuel line.

Kind of a pain and you have to be careful not to break the level sender but it works.

Well first off we don't know if you've got a FWD or AWD car, which would require a somewhat different approach.

On my AWD I never had to cut the chassis or anything, I just undid the main fuel line underneath the car (two sets of flare nut wrenches are HIGHLY recommended), then go up top, remove the seat, undo the little hoses/clamps and in my case I fish the loose end of the main fuel line and twist it up through the hole, so the whole line comes out with the fuel hanger. I do it this way because the top of my main fuel line is already kinked and seized up.

If you're lucky, you can undo the line at the top so going under the car wont be necessary, but again, this is on an AWD. Not 100% sure on the FWD procedure. In any case, cutting the chassis is NOT 100% required!

When I replaced the fuel pump in my gst I had to remove the line underneath. I tried to just screw it off the housing without taking the whole line off, but I couldn't do it. I didn't have to cut or bend anything tho... Good luck man!
