FP3 cams for us 2.4 hybrid owners

Decided to ditch my Web's finally. Brian(?) at FP told me the FP3's have a boatload of midrange... on the order of 100 ft-lbs, and 80 ft-lbs at peak, over the 272's...or was it over the FP2's? On a 2.3 or 2.4... jeez... first thing to go is the memory.

Valve springs used FP said were the Ferrea non-turbo dual springs (210 lbs @ 1.10 in.). FP3's have high acceleration ramps so the lobes are rather "square" looking he said. Wouldn't say whether the Crower springs (190 lbs @ 1.10 in.) I just got would work, so I bought Manley's (222 lbs @ 1.05 in.) which will work with the Crower Ti retainers. Not FP's recommendation, simply my "hopefullness". And I hope they do work on my 2.4 enough to let me shift at the usual 7800 rpm without doing anything weird. The only other non $500+ spring setup I could find were Supertech's at about $350. Now I've got some brand new Crower's I need to sell on Ebay

It was vs 272's. Your better off with something stiffer than Crower. Info will be out on this publically soon.

The Manley's should work if everyone's advertised data is correct. The Manley's and Ferrea's spring rates plot out nearly on top of each other. My machinist will be checking the spring rates (he's so an*l... and expensive )

Obviously this says nothing about ramp rates other than that implied by "SPRINGS REQUIRED" which is also stated on the FP2 cam card. . Since nobody's said anything (or is reading this thread, or is too....never mind, not gonna say anything abou the average tooner mentality :laugh: ), these FP3 cams, unlike FP2s, have lobe centerlines, timings, etc, etc, that are the same as 101200's.
