ok well i wanna know the low down on this turbo from people that have it not people that here about it whats the spool time on it wioth a full 3inch exhaust no cat and 272's and a fully ported head stock size valves for 20psi. what about the diff in hp and the diff in spool vs the 8cm housing and the 7cm housing. this is a street car but i use that term loosely so how would it be if you cruising at like 70 and floor it ?? just give me the whole low down thanks a lot

I have a FP Red but do not have cams yet and right now with my current setup full spool is around 4500rpm give or take. These turbo really won't wake up until 21+psi.

well witch cm housing do u have? also what psi are you running and do you know your hp. I have 272's and a sbr stage 5 head so I'm trying to see if spool will be diff and by how much from 7cm an 8cm houseing

The difference between the 7cm and 8cm housings will be something like 200rpm. I run a 60-1 (fp red essentially) on my 2.3L. I love it. I know it's not much to compare to a 2.0L, but this thing flows some serious air!

Hmmm, are you referring to the difference in spoolup on your stroker. Or was there 200 rpms difference when running stock displacement? I was under the impression that the spool differences with the RED were significant when switching housings with a 2.0. I just want to clear up my own confusion:confused: .

You're running stock cams too. Would that make the spool up characteristics between the two housings not that much different? I really don't know.

Man a stroker with stock duration cams... if you get that 60-1 to full boost anywhere near 3500 rpms you probably have some serious grunt off idle!

EDIT: Oh wait! You have the SBR G60-1 turbo. I didn't notice that. Where have you heard about the spool differences? I would be interested in knowing about this too. As some have said that the minimal increase in flow up top is not worth the loss is spool time. But I would think that the larger housing should contribute quite a bit more flow up top. I don't know. Hearing about all these guys dropping the 8cm^2 housing in favor of the 7cm^2 housing has me baffled. Wouldn't it defeat the purpose of having a 60-1 compressor wheel? . . . or does the TD06H turbine wheel in the 7cm^2 housing flow way better than I'm giving it credit for?

ive got someone that might trade me an FP red for my 7 bolt when i do my 6 bolt swap.... im not doing a stroker motor... so im kinda curious how the RED does in a 2.0..... with stock cams.... will be upgrading to 272's in the future... have mahle pistons scat rods... .020 over bore... and supporting mods DSMLink will be running all of this

My buddy had the red, and it was a wicked turbo, but on his 2.0 it was a freaking lag monster. I'd go with the green. The red would be better on a 2.3, but on a 2.0 It will probably suck for the average person unless your car is alot more race oriented.

What green is it, the old or the new HTA? I don't know alot about the HTA green, but I'd buy the old school green in a heart beat.

My hx40 car I have now puts my fpred car to shame!! And the fpred car had a magnus intake on it,the hx40 car has a stock one. both cars used the same head and similar bottom ends.

the green im looking at is actually the old frank 5. The red has a clipped turbine 15 degrees ported 7cm hotside and comes with a tial 38mm waste gate with o2 dump and o2 housing, im gonna have 1000CC PTE's and i have a walbro 255lph, stock cams at the moment, but over bored pistons .020 will that still really be that much of a lag monster? i heard full boost is at 4500RPM..which is about what im gettting with my blown T25.
