just curious to see why other people have had luck with.... has anyone switched to LED bulbs in the fog lights (oem)? I am specifically asking about the 1g fog lights that use a H3 bulb.

Seems like the market is flooded with cheap bulbs these days...

I think the major issue mat be that the heatsinks have to be designed in a way that works with the housing and support bracket for 1g fogs. Kind of a pain.

About the flood of cheap bulbs, I picked up some real cheap Chinese yellow halogen fogs years ago off ebay and I am still on the first set of bulbs. Vibration hasnt killed the filaments yet.
But I also dont drive around with them on, really at all, because its never foggy here to need them and driving around with fogs on a clear day/night is really pointless, like aluminum tow hooks.

I've been wanting to change mine in my 1ga's and this link is what I think will work but I haven't bought them yet. I have converted my 1gb over and LOVE it. I don't remember what bulbs the fogs took on it, I'd have to look. I think it was the set in this picture for the 1gb

The best LEDs that I have found are the projector style.

I was going to tag you Marty since you’re the only person I know running led fogs!

I absolutely love converting the whole front end of the Blue 92. I can see for MILES.
The 1ga's are a different deal tho. I'm still trying to find the correct bulb for the fogs and I do believe those will work. I do it so when I'm at the track, I'm not pullin voltage away from the ignition or injectors. :thumb:

I have been using cheap projector style H3 LED bulbs In my 1G, from eBay like the pic. So far so good. Very bright.
I also have a kit with heatsinks/electric fans, but they are too big, as @curt-s mentioned above. They don't fit without modification since there is no room for the heatsinks/fans and the stock bulb hold clips don't fit.

Thanks everyone.... looks like the projector style LED's are the way to go. I will take a look at what is out there and try a few of them. Seem like the 1ga headlights and fog lights are more difficult to get anything modern to fit/work. I found what appears to be 4x6 led projector replacements made for semis that I am going to attempt to install in the headlights at the same time.

If any of you have pictures of the setup on your cars, I would love to see them.

    Thanks again!

Don’t know if this helps, but I installed two color leds in my MES 1999 Gs. The bulb housing was to long for the fog light housing , but the backs unscrew. Which I believe helps with cooling. A slot is needed to thread the wire through. Thanks dremel type tool. Flash lights to brights and fogs go to yellow from white. There is a heat shield in the light housing, which I felt were not needed.
I tried inline bulbs and did not like the result, the focus is off for 2g fog light housings.

    Hope this helps.

Ps. Hole cut in fog light was not needed after back was unscrewed.

And the Dog made me do it
