FMIC suggestions

im going to get a FMIC set up here shortly, and ive heard many things but most that worries me is i hear about people overheating, is their any certain size of FMIC that i can get that will allow better airflow to keep from over heating, or can i not avoid that?

What kit are you talking about??? the VR SPEED FACTORY KIT or another one that looks like it??? because there are quite a few kits out there that look like each other and people tend to confuse them with with one another when indeed they are diferent........ I didn't have to cut any pipes at all, i bought my kit with the j pipe option, and i thought i was gonna have problems since mines automatic, but i didn't and it all just fit perfect

I was talking about the egay one he said is 250 shipped, I've never researched the
VR one but since my car is Auto as well I may look into it.

Your kit was dented or what??? you knoe shit happens while thigs are shipped, this does not make a kit cheaper, im pretty sure alot or companies suffer from their parts getting damaged during shippind; and by the way my kit didn't have a single dent when I received it so it was all good for me

You can't just always go around blaming the company for evrything that goes wrong, yo gotta think about other factors as well.

Yea i got one back in april.. they were on back order it took over a month to get it they kept pushin the date back on it which i guess was ok ..but kinda made me mad when i got it and there was no packing around the intercooler at all and a decent size dent on the top of it which bent some of the fins..Which im sure it was damaged during shipping but my friend got the same one and no dent and plenty of packing.. GOOD OLD FED EX

Ohh that sux man... yeah mine came pretty well packed as well, you should have hit up mangina to let him knoe about it and maybe he could have done sumthing about it... The kit does say lifetime warranty on their website so they might be able to cover you on that

The vr-speed kit, which is the one i am running on my car, is $320 as mentioned on the website.
I highly recommend the kit and must say it's been doing great.
Today i drove on the highway and it never overheated.
All you have to do is take off your thermostat and trust me when i tell you this, your car will never overheat.
I am also running 25/75 coolant/water mix as well.

i think the people that are having the over heating problem are the people that r using one fan so if your using both fans i wouldnt worry cause i have a 57 trim turbo and a greddy front mount and i never overheat. and im saving money to get the sbr fmic, cant wait

I didn't catch this thread until now and just wanna clear up a few things.

For the people worried about "hacking" up their car, EVERY front mount intercooler kit made for a dsm is going to require some form of modification. Any car that didn't come with provisions for a FMIC from the factory will require some sort of modification in order to fit a big intercooler core between the bumper & radiator, especially one as large as ours

Our kit requires slight trimming of the radiator support simply because it's one of the shortest route kits available. It removes about 2 feet of piping, bends & a few couplers and clamps by shooting the charged air straight back into the engine bay rather than looping around and then back up. There isn't one short route kit available that does not require this modification. We supply everything you need to make this kit a bolt on affair, from the hardware to bolt on solutions for MHI turbos as well as downward facing turbos.

Our new bov flange design is currently only setup to work with 1g, Greddy and HKS bov's but we're working on getting a Tial setup shortly. The modular bov setup we have allows you to change the bov flange in seconds rather than having to have to purchase a new pipe or pay someone to modify & weld a new bov flange. We have a customer who now run the HKS bov vented on the street and switches to a crushed 1g recirculated at the track and it takes him less than 5 minutes to make the change in the parking lot.

Mangina can you please post pics of the new design of bov flanges? i loved your FMIC on my GST and am thinking of buying one for my GSX. Ill be running a Tial soon so when do you think you will have the Tial flange with this new technology?

I'm a new DSM owner. I just bought a 98 GSX 5 speed early this month and I'm also ready to purchase a FMIC kit and I'm looking at the kit from Punishment Racing because of their Black Friday sale. My concern is that I'm looking to put down 700whp at least and their kit says it good for 650whp. It may seem obvious that this kit isn't for me then and if that's the case what kit would hold that much power? Punishment Racing's Black Friday sale ends Monday and I'd greatly appreciate some helpful replies so in case their kit would work I could buy it before the sale is over. I'll be searching some more in the meantime. Thanks.
