FMIC suggestions

im going to get a FMIC set up here shortly, and ive heard many things but most that worries me is i hear about people overheating, is their any certain size of FMIC that i can get that will allow better airflow to keep from over heating, or can i not avoid that?

I have a friend that is running a 16g with a decently-sized fmic core, it's perfect.
He has never had any problems wit hthe car wanting to overheat.
In my case, i have a 16g as well but my core is huge and thick. My car runs good as lonmg as i drive it smooth and normal which i do anyways during the week, the weekends is another story...
I would suggest you get a decently-sized fmic according to the power you want to make, and if you can, get at least 1 pusher fan and have it wired in to your ignition so it stays on all the time as soon as you set the key to the "on" position.
Also make sure your radiator is good and run some watter wetter, only $10, couldn't hurt.

I have the kit Punishment Racing sells. Nice size intercooler, great for 14B/16G/18G/20G setups. Never have heating issue. I also have minimal pressure loss, and the kit is cheaper than anything you will find.

I don't know anyone with that kit, but it's not the CX kit, and the core is smaller. Could be fine, may be a poor kit, no way I can tell you.

However, I can guarantee this kit is worth it:

Watter wetter is a bottle that they sell at autozone or any other auto parts store that is said to help reduce temps up to 20-30 degrees.
I yet to give it a shot and see it do it's magic.

The Punishment kit was developed with CXRacing and as far as I know is pretty much the same kit. I would just buy the kit off Punishment so you have real customer service.

I think you should really consider getting the VR SPEED FACTORY FMIC, the new improvements that were made are awesome, i really liked the unique way they made their bov flanges this time , definetly a true bolt-on affair this time around!

I wouldn't get the vr-speed inter-cooler unless you want to hack up your core support to run the piping through. Then punishment / Cx racing set up is really nice and you can either use a 1g, or greddy flanged bov.

Hopefully you have thought about how you want your piping to run (short route or stock), whether you want to keep the fog lights and whether you can keep your bumper or not. Plus, if you have future loftier goals, I would plan ahead now. Just a few thoughts.

hacking it up. i have the 1g kit it it took like 20mintues with a dremel. to get it to fit and it doesnt look hacked.

one thing you could also do is get some slim line high cfm fans, if you get a fan that will pull 1500 cfm you should be just fine no matter how big your fmic is
