I have a 99 GSX with a MHI Big 16G, EVOIII exhaust manifold and O2 housing, RRE downpipe, high flow cat, Espelier exhaust, 1G BOV, RRE Upper IC pipe, zeitronix wideband, and dsmlink.

I am overwhelming my stock side-mount especially in the SO. Cal summer heat. I am working on a budget so as much as I would love to get a Greddy, ETS, or some other kit I just don't have the funds right now.

I am thinking of getting this IC from ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=009&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=190127427627&rd=1,1
I figure I can use mandrel bent pieces from road race and piece together some long route piping for a pretty good price.

I was planning on using 2.25" piping as my j-pipe, L-pipe, and upper IC pipe are already 2.25".

Any input is appreciated, I have never dealt with an FMIC before.

Well, not owning a 2g myself, but from everything I've read, it seems the SSAutochrome kit seems to be the bang for the buck. I believe I remember catching someone say that ktis runs for about 320 shipped. don't quote me on that price.

I'm sure a 2g guy will chime in and vouche for that kit.

I vote ssac kit i bought mine ealier this spring, and i love it. I have a simliar setup to you and my 16g is much happier versus the side mount.

I believe they are currently sold out. That is what they said when I contacted them. I asked when they would be available and they have not replied. Been about a week now.
Someone on the massive thread "ebay fmic" found someone new on ebay selling what appears to be the same intercooler as the ssac/xs power one. It is sold in two pieces.
The intercooler and then the intercooler piping.
I emailed him and he said both items he could do shipped for $340. Comes with a greddy s or rs bov flange.

Here is the one I am talking about.

For the money there are some that are a little cheaper, but this seems to be the same one as the tried and proven ssac one that most of the 66 page or so ebay fmic thread talks about.

Thanks for your replies guys. I did see that other thread when I searched but to tell you the truth I just didn't have the patience to go through all 65 pages to find info.

I did notice that on page 17 there was mention of the 2GB fog lights not fitting, I am not psyched on that. I would really like to keep mine as the bumper looks retarded with empty holes there.

I vote for SSAC after reading the 'bible' thread. I had e-mailed SSAC in May and they said they are out of stock for about 60 days and just e-mailed them again the other day and said they don't have any in stock but they will let me know when they do. I calculated the middle to end of July (60 days from the first e-mail) so hopefully it'll be soon. If you can wait for it, I'd say go that route. If not, go with 96gstdsm's suggestion. I don't see a reason to not go with the SSAC though - cheap, short route, been proven to hold a lot - excellent choice in my opinion! :thumb:

I believe most of them require the fogs to be deleted. Some smaller ones like a greddy one i have seen some people run allowed the fog lights to remain. All the larger cores will require the fogs to be removed. You also gotta remove or significantly cut the actual bumper support bar. Unless you are gonna use a very short intercooler. I was in the same boat as you(still am) but I just figured I would deal with no fogs and a hacked up bumper if it helps me gain some good power.
I have also seen some people with fog light covers, but as far as I know those are custom.
I am going to buy a front bumper for a project and just fiberglass over the fog light area. I have seen a couple people on here that did that and it looks awesome.

From what I have been reading the one I posted links for is the same exact intercooler just being sold by someone else. They are all made in the same places in china really, just different distributors. Also SSAC has been known to switch around their names on ebay for some reason.
If you compare the two side by side there are no differences.

SSAC kit..

Screw the foglights. you willing to keep those to have an inferior kit?

The kits that let you keep foglights.. usually are inferior to the SSAC kit, and others which eliminate the fogs, also the ones that also let you keep the fogs happen to also be more expensive.. significantly more expensive..

If I were you and didn't want to wait for the SSAutochrome kit (you do have to delete the fogs), I would go under the bumper and make some measurements as to what core size with end tanks would allow you to keep the fog lights. Keep in mind pipe routing also though. It is certainly possible to do it without removing the fog lights. Maybe if you could get the exact measurements of everything in the Greddy kit, you could just build a copy of that kit. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks again to everyone who is replying. I thought about getting the measurements of the Greddy kit and copying it but the greddy sight isn't real forthcoming with technical details. If anyone happens to have those measurements I would be much obliged if you could pass them on.

I will probably just end up getting the ssac kit and dealing with no fog lights when they get them in but If I can find a way to economically keep them I would like to.

Small core + methanol injection FTW.

ssautochrome has been out of stock on there second gen kits. or that is atleast what the have been telling me in there emails. It's really descurageing. I wont one really bad.

I checked there site and the kit was going for 650... Where are all these low prices coming from (300 dollar range)?

these guys make great intercoolers. I have their 31"x11.75"x3" - 2.5" size intercooler. They also have t-bolt clamps $2.60. I recommed these guys to anyone.

It's early so maybe I just can't follow what is going on. Who are you talking about?

They are sold out! If people see the links I posted above that is the exact same intercooler. It is just not the same name that is selling it. No need to really wait for ssac to have it available if it is somewhere else already. I know I will be buying that today or tomorrow with the piping(which is separate). All these ebay ones are generic ones made in China. This is the same thing, so obviously other people can get their hands on it.
