Haha, heres my 96 eclipse(pretty nasty eh), it had several layers of paint so I sanded the entire car down and sprayed her flat black with good ol' spray can black primer(yes the primer in a can you buy at autozone). While doing so I went ahead n put the 97-99 front and rear on. Trust me, this is temporary, I basically put it on there so It wont rust for the time being, and it actually looks better than the original white paint that was chipping off ha. I thought id do that instead of grey primer. Anyways car will be going into the shop soon to be painted black, weld the spoiler holes(keeping it wingless), 97-99 skirts, and still trying to decide on which 18" black rims I want. Im posting these pics because i know ppl wanted to actually paint their eclipse's flat black for a PAINTJOB so here is what it looks like(its very dirty, it might look a little bit better if my car didnt see a mile long dirt road everyday). Here are some pics, all I can say is please dont.:nono: The flat black looks hard on some muscle cars, but these 2g eclipse's need a nice glossy paint job IMO. I cant wait untill its done, black on black 2gb's make me drool. ill post new pics once its painted.

primer black and flat black are different....primer black still has a greyish color to it...flat black is dark black it just has no shine.

still till you get it painted it looks good.

ha yea after a couple cans, my hands were kinda sore, gave me time to let the coats dry :) .....but it does look sharp when its completely wet

After seeing the SCC guys ruin project STi with a flat black paint job, I've HATED any car with that paint job..... :barf: :barf: :barf:

Thank god you aren't going to keep it that way! A new black paint job with 18's in gonna look NiCe!

LOL you can now fit into the honduh crowd as one of their own.

flat primer on a honda is like the holy grail of paint jobs for them. less money on paint means more money for vtec.

but why wingless. looks horrid IMO. looks like a hot chick with no ass. the ass needs something there to flare it up and not look so, so, boring.

Black, Wingless, Black Rims... :thumb:

I just went with the GSX rims painted black. You might consider those, the price isn't bad. ROFL

^^^^^^ wow nice car.. I love the simpleness to it!

i swear someone in indidana just primered there car like that too... cause I was like THERES THE GUY off the forum... unless u were on vication i doubt it was u! LOL

Wingless is good. You don't need the drag or the weight. (Granted it doesn't weigh much LOL! )

This was actually what I am going to do to my car..to prep it before it goes in the shop again. So is this how you are going to take it into the shop?

i have decided to paint my car now that i am comfortable with the performance part of my baby. i had an idea, but i have never really seen it. i was thinking of flat black. i have a 1g with black rims and i havent seen anyone do it. does anyone have any pictures of 1g's that are flat black? i dont know if it would look good or not. what are your opinions on this? also would this be cheaper than doing a full paint job?

It has already been done, I just cannot remember his name. He had/has a green 2g now. It useto be a charcoal 1g that he paitned flat black I believe... I just cannot remember his screen name. If you search around on the site using the search feature, and gallery search, You'll find it.
