if you clear coat flat black, It iwll turn to gloss black.
no it wont

REAL flat black is a paint mixture with a flatteing agent induced into the paint mixture. You can do the same with clear.

thats what i thought but i wasnt sure. so in a way wont it look like flat black and rough but when you touch it, it will be smooth and look glossy up close?

I believe the technical term for this agent is flatulence.

What you see that makes a car look mean is called MATT BLACK, dont get confused with flat black and Matt black.

Matt black is paint and it isnt a crappy primer and the car comes out looking very nice.

A local painter told us that getting a car to look nice and even surface and its not easy, but if you just dont care and like what the ricers do just rattle can it.

MATT Black looks awsome and not cheap and shitty

No, what I am talking about is .99 rattle can primer, and the best thing about it, as much as we all work on are DSM's you can scratch the fender, hit it with a little sandpaper, spray it again, and just like new. I am speaking for myself, but it will be along time before I get a paint job, because it would be terrible as much as i have to work on mine.

No it will be flat, hence the name flat black

so i wanna paint my 90 talon flat black. i just want to know how to go about it. might sound dumb but i don't i wanna keep the flat look. but i wanna protect the paint. i dunno if theres a way to throw a clear coat on it and keep the flat look. i just don't wanna primer it either. Thanks guys

I don't really care what's in. just want to have a flat black car. ill just see how they do it on the new flat back Enzo. Thanks anyways

Rattlecan BBQ black always looks so great on the Hondas though... (/sarcasm)

i'm going satin black in a couple weeks. i'm gonna have it sprayed by my friend that works at a body shop. i'll never do flat black primer ever again though.

As interesting as that sounds, I doubt that Ferrari is producing a flat black Enzo.

There are some Ferrari owners that have attempted this paint scheme, such as the one in this link.

Now, if you're speaking of the latest, even more limited production of the Enzo. (Ferrari Enzo FXX) Then you may have your car confused with this beauty. Michael Schumacher was given this one of a kind Enzo FFX, however, it is not quite flat black.

I am interested to know your sources that lead you to believe that there will be a production of flat black cars from Ferrari as I like to keep up with these things myself and hopefully could gain some sort of an insight as to why a company like Ferrari would make such a move.

I painted my 2gb NT/T flat black using bumper paint and matt clear coat... it looked hella awsome!

Actually, so did Absolute, Here is a dirty photo of his car flat black... it looks like shit just because its dirty.

There was a company that did a FX45 in matte silver for a car show. It looked great.

Clear coat will give it a slight shine but it will still be flat.

i might be wrong, i heard it from an Enzo owner himself. theres a Exotic meet they have every sunday down here like 10 mins away from the house.but who knows if he was lying:confused: .

anyways i never said i wanted to just primier the car,i wanted it to look more like the ferrari in the first link. i think that looked sick, i think theres a big difference between flat black and primer black.

Ok so no that I've finished a brutal performance upgrade (everything under the hood) I'd like to take a break from performance and work on the looks of my 2g. This is what I'm thinking (Inspired by a mix of the new Rob and Big Truck and the Rolls Royce Phantom Conquistador)

Can anyone give me a good guess on what mix would be achieve this. It looks like a flat or matt black with a clear coat for that small bit of shine.

Also if anyone has some photoshop skills and can show me this color with black rims on a 2G that would be bad ass. Thanks

that paint right there has no clearcoat, it is just a matte black finish that has been wetsanded.

I did that to my last 2g... I just sanded over my stock black paint and repainted over it with satin black. It came out nicely! There's a guy here with a GSX that did it also... I can grab his picture to show...

Remember this car is REALLY Dirty... Before you wet sand the paint, it collects dirt very very easy. And even after, its a dirty color. But if its clean in where you drive, go for it if you like it... You will have to up your cleaning habits... but I thought it was worth it. So if your going to do alot of work in the shop... mainly fiberglass, wood cuting, or anything that develops some kind of dust... park the car outside! haha
