Flat Black [Merged 2-9] paint painted finish

It was painted flat black because that is suppose to be a budget car. The flat black they used is straight out of a spray can. Their origianl intentions were not to leave the car flat black, but once they painted it like that people really liked it so they kept it.

If you're going to rattlecan your car, gloss black will make it look like you tried, and you'll fail and your car will look cheap. Flat black will look like you didn't care about looks at all, so no one will expect perfection. I don't really like the way the SCC's STi looks with the flat black, but my hat goes off to their enormous balls. Brand new beautiful car, then they rip it apart and rattlecan it. Dang. But to get back on topic rattlecan your DSM if you want. . . but make sure it's fast first so you aren't a ricer.

Actually check out this thread, you can see the paint.. uh the primer job clearly in these pics. All the body work was done at my house and the primer was put on by home depot spray cans....hehe check it out...

HE HE.... shut up, you go buy a honda. This is jus temporary foo.... im saving up for my paint, and originally my car was green, when i got the body kit, the front was blue, the side skirts and the rear bumper were grey, and as you can see in the pics, i molded the side skirts and the rear bumper, using kitty hair and bondo, which made it light green where the body was connected. My car looked like a clown car, so i decided to sand the whole thing down and jus spray some primer on till i got it painted.
Imma paint it gunmetal, with a pearl of black..... its gonna be siiiikkkk

Huge ricer fad. Completely stupid and tasteless IMO. It is hillarious that they do this and then 10,000 teenage kids go and do it to their cars that had perfectly fine paintjobs. Then the kids want to sell their cars a few months down the road, and guess what? No one is going to buy a peice of shit that is spraypainted primer black.

Krazeeejatt, that flat black looks hardcore, you should smooth it out with some high, high grit and a tack cloth, toss some off that low gloss clear on and call it a day. I saw some pics of a 1g in flat black...it doesn't look so happy. I was going to do my 1ga flat but after seeing a different 1g flat, I changed my mind.

The only thing that flatblack looks good on is older vehicles. A 50 Merc, a 50's Chevy truck, an old T bucket, those all look cool with flat black and some flames.

New cars look unpainted and like shit.

No. You didnt do it becasue a magazine did it nor are you doing it becasue it is cool. It is being done becasue someone didnt care of the paint at somepoint.

Lol. Hey man check out the rims again after they have been cleaned up. You know where to find he thread. I have a lot of construction going on near home so the rims were extra dirty and ugly. Just double check the thread and then tell me what you think... or you could tell me what the name of the rim is.

Sorry, i wasnt very clear. You misunderstood me. Im primering mine because my paint is so shitty. Read my original post, the one w/ my sig. At least primer to me has a meathod to the madness look. Instead of just a beater with shitty paint. Trust me i'd rather have a full gloss paint job.

I was going to paint it with real paint, with a gravity feed paint gun. No primer, no rattle cans. After seeing many pictures of flat black DSM's, and other imports, i desided to look into another color, gunmetal. Then again, i might just leave the car the way it is (even though i need a new fender). See the whole point was to paint it a color that was easily fixable. This is gonna be an autocross/roadtrack car and maybe even a rally event or two, so its gonna get dinged up a little.


And for everyone who complains about rice this, rice that... get a life.

Also, i have never looked at any DSM and called it "classy," thats something youd say about a Bently, Rolls, or something of that nature... not a import wanna be domestic, such as ours.

Personally im a fan of flat black paint jobs. but there not for every car. i would like to see what a 1G would look like with it done. if the man wants to do, let him do it. its not your car. same with the whole rice thing. its not your car so dont worry about it. to each is there own.

Primer is only considered rice because you see a lot of half painted hondas etc. Do a nice job with a half way decent gun, and tell everyone else to eat shit.

hows it backwards? our cars are domestic and want to be imports.. ehh my wording sucked before, ohh well ... not like it really matters though.

I dont know how good/bad this gun is. i actualy think its cheap. I was gonna experiment on my bad fender before i use that gun on my car..
