i was also thinking about doing that to my old talon , but only a flat white. i think its neato :thumb:

it wouldn't surprise if if the sti you saw was primered...same with the sylvia but i didn't feel like reading...regardless....it will look primered....don't do it man

nope, the STI was kryloned for a fact, there was a whole entire story on it and how many krylon paint cans they bought etc...

dont do it. that shit will flake off and look like hell. Save your money for a good paintjob, will look much better. If you paint it flat blak ur gonna look like those honduh retards drivng around with half their car in primer.

I think it looks pretty nice but there is the fact that you cannot really wash your car to get certain things off. If someone spilled orange soda on your car, then you might end up with a big orange stain because all primer does it absorb.

My friend primered his 240 and it looked nice when he first did it but then it just started getting a whole bunch of crap on it.

my paint has hella scratches and blotches from my brother paintballing it

Instead of painting it, wetsand the whole thing with 2000 grit, buff it out, polish and wax it. Will look better than new... and 100x better than flat black.

I'm planning on painting my Daily Driver flat black in the spring. I think it would look hot.

I build models, so experience tells me that flat paint (primer) is not only used to make a nice rough surface for gloss paint to stick to, but is also used to show any mistakes in workmanship before the real coat of paint goes on. This goes for real cars too. I'm fairly confident that flat black paint on a real car will show every dent and ding, and deep scratch in the paint underneath, so if you do intend to do this, make sure you fill in everything and sand the whole car before just spraying.

IMO flat black is totally out of place on imports. Sorry.

Think about it ur gonna paint ur car with a can of spray paint...... OMG

Flat black gets a big :thumbdown from me. That Silvia looks like ass.

Maybe if you had like an old Mustang it'd look good. Not a DSM, though...
Thank You.

Dont do it! That sh!t will look horrible and itll flake like hell. Like others said, save the money and get yurself something more descent like a touch up job. Believe me, you will regret it because i had a friend do the same thing. It looked descent at first, untill it started flaking miserably and really showing the lack of quality. Days after, he would constantly cry about how sh!tty his car started to look. Beware when bad weather hits too.

But hey do whatever you want, just dont regret it later.

i wonder what the draw backs to flat black are besides heat soak.. or even the pros

sport compact car also just painted their project sti flat black and said that afterward the radio reception absolutely sucked. honestly i think it looks like total ass. gloss black is one thing, but this just looks cheap and ghetto to me.

First time I saw that car I just thought "At least the ricers are priming the whole car now instead of just the bumpers." Then I realized it was a sylvia :thumb:. But it still looks like my ass :thumbdown.

Find some pics that Backnblack92ESI posted... he painted his 1gb Talon flat black by himself.

god do not paint your car flat black. dsm's are too classy for such a low end paint job. save up a few hundred and go to maaco or something cheap, anythings better than looking like a honduh ricer.

Oh yah man, definitely go flat black. You gotta do it up real dark, though. That sylvia is way too light. No conventional clearcoat, either. Makes the paint look sweaty. If it were mine, I'd do it up real dark and then have some airbrushed white pinstripes done up on the sides.

Yeah I painted my 1Gb Flat Black.

Since I can't upload the pictures I have more than once..... I will just link to you to some real old threads of my old car. Enjoy.

I will try to find some on my ImageStation. Since I got a new comp. All 200+ pictures of my old car were lost.

Enjoy. Lots of pics in that one.
